With the Vatican promoting Islamic finance, this is hardly a surprise. The dhimmi elements in the Roman Catholic hierarchy appear to be quite firmly entrenched.

    In a statement issued today, Thursday 12 March, Peter Jennings, Press Secretary to the Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Birmingham, and the Archdiocese of Birmingham, said: "The chapel at Newman University College, Birmingham, was properly prepared for this event which consisted of two talks and a discussion of an interfaith nature."

    Mr Jennings added: "Christian/Muslin [sic] dialogue is an important part of the Catholic Church's agenda. College authorities were fully aware of what was taking place."

I'm baffled. Last night I reported on this disturbing event, organised by the college's Islamic Society and sanctioned by its politically correct chaplaincy team. I know that priests in Birmingham archdiocese are outraged by what happened. Archbishop Nichols could so easily have distanced himself from this, but he hasn't. If, against the odds, he is named as the next Archbishop of Westminster, his failure to speak out now will haunt him.
Yet perhaps this astounding act of naivete has not met with approval at the highest levels:

As I noted this morning, Italian journalist Paolo Roderi has named Bishop Bernard Longley, auxiliary in Westminster, as the man chosen by the Pope to succeed +Cormac. But only last night Roderi was claiming that Benedict XVI was leaning towards Vincent Nichols, which implies that the Pope had a last-minute change of heart. If so, can you blame him? This response to an event that has enormously upset devout Catholics is inadequate, and that's putting it politely.
Oriana Fallaci had immense respect and admiration for Benedict XVI, for his awareness of the plight of Europe and the nature of Islamic supremacism and jihad. I hope we will someday see her hope in him borne out by his actions.

I’ve been hearing about this, but have not been able to find the article supposedly posted at the Vatican news site. I’ve googled it but though there are many entries,I haven’t been able to find the actual link. Wonder if it’s a hoax? I cannot imagine why the Vatican would promote such a thing.

Same here. The only conclusion I can reach is that it’s in an earlier edition of the :spades:L’Osservatore Roman which is no longer available online. However, there may be someone on this board who is a subscriber who can post the article for us.

The closest I found that gave an explanation was it was referring to investing profits in infrastructure. But no mention of WHO made the statement - the only person actually referenced was the editor of L’Osservatore Roman.

Without the actual article, anything we say will be conjecture.

However, on the other issue, that Archbishop seems to be in competition with the Archbishop of Canterbury, lol. It seems he is about to be asked to go into “retreat”. 😃

Absolutely it’s an outrage. In the Islamic world Christians are living in persecution and are unable to build nor repair their Churches at all, or without going through ridiculously long processes. Often, their Churches are being damaged at the same time by local muslims. Also, there are muslims laying claim to local Churches land. Not to mention that no Churches are allowed in Saudi Arabia.

Islam is a supremist ideology and it’s adherents also.

Of course, YOU wouldn’t know about this, nor care. You can’t see clearly through your islamic burkha.

To judge by his public acts, I think he’s as hopeless on this issue as his predecessor :mad:, the man who brought us the Assisi Abomination :mad: Why in ] did Ratzinger not stand up to him ? 😦 :mad: Talk about human respect :mad: !!!​

Inter-religious dalogue = fine & needed

Using religious buildings for acts of non-Christian worship = unforgivable :mad:

A Catholic as Abp of Westmister would be nice. If only. A man with this Pope’s virtues, & none of his failings; or someone similar. Not conservative, not liberal, just a Christian who is also Catholic; someone who can avoid using twenty words when one is enough.

BTW - I’m neither devout nor traditional or even particularly Christian; just fed up with the trash that Rome allows, encourages, patronises, supports, & permits. Whenever I think of this bilge, it makes my blood boil - Catholicism is bad for one’s blood pressure.

Vatican says Western banks should look at rules of Islamic finance to restore confidence amongst clients.

ROME - The Vatican said banks should look at the rules of Islamic finance to restore confidence amongst their clients during the current global economic crisis.

The ethical principles on which Islamic finance is based may bring banks closer to their clients and to the true spirit which should mark every financial service the Vatican official newspaper Osservatore Romano said in an article in its latest issue.

The article argues that Western banks could use tools such as the Islamic bonds, known as sukuk, as collateral.

Sukuk may be used to fund the car industry or the next Olympic Games in London, it said.

The article also said that profit share, gained from sukuk, may be an alternative to the interest, underlining that the sukuk system could help automotive sector and support investments in infrastructure area.

Using the Islamic sukuk system, money would be invested in concrete projects and profit share - instead of interest earned - is distributed to clients.

The Osservatore editor, Giovanni Maria Vian, said that the great religions have always had a common attention to the human dimension of the economy, Corriere della Sera reported.

That’s okay, but I qualified burkha with islamic burkha - I meant the veil of islamic indoctrination. The same indoctrination that has you re-acting with perpetual offense at words - vitriol :rotfl:

Sister Amy, better you receive strong words to upset your very sensitive sensitivities than what men and women are actually receiving in the islamic countries - there they are receiving violent physical abuse and discrimination. So your petty sensitivities are of no concern to me.

Additionally, a burkha is not a veil. A burqa is a common body covering (veil) in the subcontinent. But if you were to pronounce it as “burkha” in a class with some of my teachers… lol…

But I am not fooled by your mock sympathy for abuse or discrimination–it is only a tool for you to get angry about Islam. You hate Islam so much you don’t even want people to talk to Muslims, or let them into chapels.

Hey listen now I know you don’t know jack about the burqa.

My wife calls burqa wearing sisters -ninjas - not just her but her sisters as well.

And I wanted to get her one…but she was like - you wear it if you want.

Anyway it does get super hot under a black chaddor.

I’m the one that covers up head to toe except my face and hands every single day, regardless of the weather. So I’d say I know a thing or two more than you do. Sisters who wear a face veil (we call that NIQAAB here in the states) sometimes call themselves ninjas because they kinda look like ninjas, so it’s kinda cool. Ninjabis. lol.

Just because you’re wife doesn’t want to cover doesn’t mean it’s oppressive. If it’s hot, then it gets hot no matter what you wear, whether it’s black or white. But I don’t like wearing black in the summertime, myself, and think it’s silly that it’s so popular.

According to her its not warranted according to islam.
you can wear a long skirt and long sleeved blouse.

You dont have to be wearing a black overcoat on top of your outfit, which is how it is worn.

In fact just the other day I asked her - so do you wear anything under the burqa, and she goes - you perv, yes its like a coat.
