Why is this not in the Creed?

In our Catholic Credo why is there no basic belief in the fact that God is love?
 
The Creed was say at Mass was put together due to various disputes and theological debates over centuries. Christianity has never experienced a major split over the concept that God is love and therefore it never needed to be added to the Creed.
