Why isn't muhammed considered a prophet?

I always think to myself,there have been many prophets in the past,what makes muhhamed not a prophet?
I mean,why wouldnt we consider him a prophet?

Whats the reason we don’t consider him a prohpet?

I know its becuase jesus is only seen as a prophet in the quran,but how can we be so sure that muhhamed wasnt a genuine prophet

The prophets were men of God who spoke God’s truth to the world as he called them to do so. We know their teaching is true because what they said came to be. Jesus is truly one of these, but he is more than they were because he is the God-Man, not just a man. With Jesus’ coming into the world, the last word of God was given to man by Christ, since he was sent as both God and man to reveal the Father to us. Mohammed came 6 centuries after Christ, and is no more a true prophet than Martin Luther or Jim Jones. They are false prophets who have no authority from God to speak to anyone.
 
Prophets of God don’t contradict one another. Mohammed contradicted Jesus and many other prophets.
 
In what ways did muhammed contradict jesus and other phophets?

I was told a few times muhhamed didnt contradict,but i find that hard to believe,an example would bee great

One example is he said that Jesus never died on the cross but was assumed up into heaven by God before He died. This isn’t our Jesus, our Jesus died on the cross so that every man has a chance to be saved. Muhammed also says that the Old and New testaments were ‘corrupted’, something no other prophet has ever insinuated. Thus, we know he is a false prophet. He also claims that Jesus is just a man, not the Son of God. That’s just a few differences… Plus, no prophet has already contradicted God’s revealed truths. Something which Muhammed’s (if they really are his) teachings do many, many times. By the way, shouldn’t this be in the Islam sub-forum?
 
The battle cry of all Muslims is from The Koran, "There is no God but Allah. He is neither begotten nor does he beget.” This is the cornerstone of Islam, which is antithetical to Christianity. Being such, how can the author of these words be a “prophet of God”?

I am reading through the Qu’ran at the moment (about halfway through after three weeks; it’s hard work), and I have found dozens of instances in which it contradicts the Bible, although these only cover a few topics, because the Qu’ran goes over the same topic many times.

Perhaps the most important issue for Christians is the one which you have mentioned: the Qu’ran repeatedly asserts that God does not have children, and that Jesus was, therefore, merely human. It also disputes the accuracy of the Bible, as Semper Fi noted, asserting that the Truth was concealed until the Revelation (“Qu’ran”) to Muhammad. The picture of God, moreover, is rather a different one: very heavy on the domination and the judgement.

God has spoken through angels many times.

Ex Angel Gabriel spoke to Mary to ask if she would become pregnant with Christ.

If she didnt accept the angel Christ wouldnt exist ? So angels cant all be evil when speaking to humans I suppose?

First of all, the angel was Jibreel, known to most of us as Gabriel. text deleted While I am not suggesting that we should never disagree with another’s viewpoint, I would contend that we ought to do so by looking at the data, and making assertions which are at least partially demonstrable.

Having said all that, regarding the angel, there is a particular doctrinal issue within Islam. According to my Sunni friends, Shiites believe that the angel Jibreel made a mistake when he brought the Revelation to Muhammad, and that it was supposed to go to Ali, in whose bed Muhammad was sleeping. I have yet to hear the Shiite side of this, though, because, if Allah is omnipotent, as the Qu’ran says, then Allah would know about it in advance. I think that I will post that in the Islam forum.
 
Plus I don’t recall Jesus changing his mind every 5 minutes or marrying and bedding a 9 yr old girl like muhammed did.

Nothing personal to those who follow Islan, but I have to agree. Mohammad is one of the false prophets Jesus warned us about.
 
Now, this is funny! If the Muslims believe in the only God Who is the all-mighty, then He should have known where Muhammad and Ali were sleeping at. Plus, angels are God-like, they don’t make mistakes.

God’s revelations to us are over…Jesus said so on the cross “It is finished”

This is the same disagreement that we might have with Mormons BTW.

Well, he and the angels who followed him, a third of the total population, are the exceptions, anyway.

Terrific point i have to say!

So when jesus said"it is finished"…did he mean,him dying for us and forgiving our sins,and also he was the last of all prophets?

Or was he referring to something else?

I would say all of the above. He restored our salvation which was shattered in the book of Genesis, and if you look at the bible as the story of man that was the appropriate ending…what else needs to be done?
