“they would certainly develop better brain if evolution were true.” that’s the point I’m trying to prove. or you can put it in another way “they would **have **developed better brain…” It’s the same.

apes wouldn’t develop better brain can be verified the fact scientist failed to make one animal smarter. all animials used in militaries, fire brigades still have their original intelligence. and we have all materials that can induce mutation and we have CT to select apes with larger brains right? It’s much better than natural selection which can’t distinguish knowledge and large brain.

also given the long history evolution “theory” claims, apes have been given enough opportunity to develop large brains. but they simply wouldn’t develop.

There’s no gene/DNA to prevent the development of larger brains in apes. right? and radiation, chemical in the environment didn’t change much to reduce mutations right?

For example, dogs used in the military are in a controlled environment, no longer wild and able to evolve. Therefore, especially in the short period of time that scientists have been trying to make animals smarter, little evolution would occur.

Pro-lifers are generally ill-educated? please organize this sentence better so that I can understand it.

you use future tense, so I assume it hasn’t happened yet.

tame of animals doesn’t introduce DNA change. for example wild elephants can be tamed to work. on the other hand abandoned humans babies brought up by wolves are wild.

Must not respond…must resist temptation…mustn’t…! ….aw heck!

  1. don’t play word games, won’t you? whether monkeys are hominids doesn’t affect the expression of the idea.
True and I’m sorry if I came off as pedantic. However you had established your definition of Apes and then proceeded to violate it.
Scientific dissusions usually involve precise terms with clear meanings

abcdefg:
  1. natural variance like skin becomes darker if often exposed to the sun doesn’t pass to future generation and doesn’t contribute to evolution.
That’s not what natural variance is. I was talking about natural variance in a population not an individual. Natural variance is the concept that most if not all natural characteristics have a range of values distributed around a norm
To use your skin color example, natural variance would be that even with the same amount of sun exposure some people would be lighter or darker.

selective stress doesn’t encourage mutation! it accelerates “natural selection” at best.
are we under severe selective stress now? yes. we face losing jobs, traffic accidents etc which ancient apes doesn’t face. does that mean we evolve or mutate more often than apes?
Selective stress isn’t stress as in your boss wants the assignment done by the end of the week or the wife wants new furniture. Selective stress in evolutionary terms would be something like a cold winter, a drought, or a saber tooth that wants to have you over for dinner that also favors one set of traits over another. And it has to apply to a population not to an individual.
As to whether we are under severe selective stress right now…I doubt it. Never have there been so many humans (both in terms of absolute numbers and percentages) who have been so healthy and long-lived.

abcdefg:
only DNA affects offspring. your skin maybe darker than that of a black living in Europe if you live in Africa. but he produces black children, you produce white children.
I know that. But that wasn’t what I was questioning. You said “DNA can only change during mutations.” And I asked “why”
AFAIK there are other ways that DNA changes

abcdefg:
Simply because Lamarckism is wrong. (any contention?) you won’t develop wings just because you move your arms up and down every day.
Yes, but accumulated experience (and I was asking “why” in response to your sentence regarding life experience and DNA change) can lead to more successful breeding…which in turn leads to DNA change. And remember, when we talk about DNA change we are talking about the variance within the population NOT the individual. Individuals really don’t matter since you can’t have a species with 1 member.

abcdefg:
then why can’t you bear a few monkeys/apes? evolution is about passing acquired traits to offsprings. if it can’t be passed, then it’s not about evolution (like knowledge, no one is born to know some science)
Many creatures on the planet provide no parental care to their offspring. The offspring have to rely on instinct, chance, and accumulated experience (if that has any meaning in something like a tree or a guppy) to survive. Hard core, tooth and claw, survival of the fittest
HOWEVER, there are all sorts of examples in nature of parents passing on experiences to their offspring, particularly in the more intelligent animals. This is particularly true in humans since we have language and writing.

It is has an indirect affect on the genetic make up of a population rather than a direct one since you can just as easily pass on your experience to someone who isn’t directly related to you. Some scientists use the term “memes” to distinguish this effect from genes.

Radiation damage contributes to DNA change most. chemical damage also have effects but much smaller.
by comparing the cost of taking plants into space and put them in some chemical solution, one can work out the approximate odds of mutation caused by radiation and chemicals.
There’s no DNA change by marrying one’s sister and bear idiotic children. some combination produce bad results. no new DNA/gene appears in the process.
You’re still fixating on damaging mutations (or mutations in general) as the driving force behind evolution. That is clearly wrong.

Continued (against my better judgement)

You’re right and it’s exactly my opinion(under the assumption, ET were right of course). the passage you’re replying to an extention of EnterTheBowser’s idea to show the absurdity.

See how evolutionist contradicts evolutionist?
I’m sorry but you’ve lost me entirely. I was responding to your original post. I didn’t see anything from Browser

abcdefg:
but a mutation for the worse means extinction.
No. Evolution (and extinction) happens to populations not individuals. If an individual had a “mutation for the worse” then that trait wouldn’t become dominant in its population in the first place.
Now a neutral mutation that became dominant through genetic drift or a beneficial mutation that became dominate through selection can both become a “mutation for the worse” if the selection pressure changes. That’s what causes extinctions. Mass extinctions are a product of catastrophe; unique events that can’t be selected for because of their scope and rarity.

Larger birth canal offers no advantage if no one has large brain. larger brain first followed by larger birth canal then even larger brain…
Well since that isn’t that way it happened in the only example we have, i.e. humans, then I’m not sure what you are basing your statement on.

abcdefg:
Ad hominem attack. I’ve shown you the effective of radiation compared with chemical damage. Scientists don’t even bother to try other method.
An Ad hominen attack would be if I said something like “you’re bad therefore your idea is bad”. I said no such thing.
I have endeavored to treat you with charity and respect and as someone who is legitimately seeking an exchange of information

However calling a silly idea silly is not an attack.

You could be the nicest, sweetest, kindest person in the world but your ideas on evolution would still be wrong

the title. you have given an answer and I’ve refuted you in this post.
The title is “why modern non-human apes can’t develop large brain now?”
And I answered that they could, given the right conditions, which is the only valid answer I can think of.
How exactly was this refuted?

abcdefg:
selective pressure is about mind, divergence is about body. mind can’t affect body. again Lamarckism fallacy here.
Once again you don’t seem to know what selective pressure is
Get thee to a textbook…please

Yeah that did sound mean, I’m sorry. I think statistics do show though that people of higher education (which often means higher intelligence…but could j ust mean better oppurtunity) tend to have less children, because of careers that prohibit it, and things of that nature. I said that people of low intelligence would havea harder time getting a good job and in the past would really struggle to support a family, but nowadays that isnt a huge problem due to welfare etc.

No taming them doesnt cause a mutation, but as they are domesticated, their breeding is controlled, and healthcare is available by their owners that would otherwise cause an unhealthy breed of dog to die out or evolve. Domestication takes the nature out of the process, and makes it much more controlled.

OK, now it’s clear, tell me. what kind of education it is when they don’t even know they will be out-breed by “inferiors”?

If you believe in ET you should realize dometication is human’s attempt to accelerate the natural process, not reverse the process to create dumb species. also human is part of nature

Thanks for pointing this out. this just made my day.

Can you say the ability to repair damage isn’t evolved? it shows the advantage gained by a successful mutation doesn’t worth the risk getting a bad mutation. the easier a species can mutate the faster it will extinct.

I consider this a kind of personal attack after reading an English version of Lamarckism (I haven’t read it before as I’ve learned evolution and lamarckism in my native language and it’s not English)

Lamarckism’s “passing acquired traits” to offsprings ignores of the existence of DNA mutation (like stretching necks) and it’s pretty inaccurate to call stretched neck a trait. and what I’m sticking with in this topic is traits acquired through DNA change/mutation. it’s quite clear with context. your intentionally distortion of the meaning of my words just for the purpose of ridiculing me is unacceptable. I demand an apology from you, zian and EntertheBrower
I haven’t attacked you at all, but I have gone after your argument(s), such as they are. I don’t see anything to apologize for. I’m glad you have a better understanding of Lamarckism.

Now, earlier I asked you to provide some evidence, to which you gave a reply that had nothing to do with my request. You said

Evolution would not predict that “better brains” must evolve. It would suggest that if change manifested a “better brain”, and if the “better brain” conferred enhanced reproductive success, then this change would pass on to future generations. Where is your evidence to show that evolution says that “better brains” must evolve! Please be specific!!
Do you have any evidence to support your statement or don’t you? You said-

I dont think domestication reverses it, it just stops it. With domestication there is no natural selection. Yes, humans are part of nature, but many of the things they do and create are not.

mutations don’t exclude the direction of “better brain” even now.
