Why must we fear God?

How do you explain to a class the reason for fearing God when we have taught them that God loves us? What are they to fear?
 
“Fear of the Lord” refers to the awe and reverence we should have for God because we recognize that he is God and we are his creatures, wholly dependent upon him. It should not be confused with fright.
