Why must we forgive?

Once again, I repeat, forgiveness is a process. On the other side is paradise. Hate can’t be that comforting to you. Put it down, ask God to forgive YOU for being unforgiving, and a great peace will come to you. Also pray for those that persecute others. Victims are God’s chosen because of their suffering.

**Humans don’t need forgiveness for not forgiving - the fault is God’s, not ours: we don’t claim all those attributes of His - but they are applied to Him, so they ought to be of practical effect; & aren’t. To be defended, “God’s” behaviour has to undergo “death by a thousand qualifications” - He becomes a paper God, a list of powerless & helpless attributes. That’s no good to anyone. 😦 **​

**Not being American, one can think of plenty of UK evils instead. The thought is no comfort - but thanks very much all the same 🙂 - because these evil things simply make the point that nothing has been improved by the coming of Christ. What you mention was in large part done by Christians - but if that is Christian, is Christianity a good thing ? A religion which allows us to bomb our enemies :eek: is not exactly an attractive one: &what is to be said of a religion which is compatible with the American Christian bombing of Serbian Christians observing Holy Week ? When Christians do that to their own fellow-believers, the Church has been destroyed.:eek: Bombing people is not a form of love - surely ? **
**Christianity is fine as a Jewish sect confined to a corner of Judaea - but as a world-wide religion, it has a lot to answer for. What it does not give is salvation - just a string of empty promises :(. Thanks again for your patience. 🙂 **
 
Gottle, Sir - I feel your pain. We across all the continents have much to answer for. The only route I can see is to throw ourselves upon the abundant Mercy of God the Father earned by the complete sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. As a miserable sinner (no false humility here), such a plea to Mercy is certainly my only hope and indeed hope for all mankind.
