I recently picked up a Douay/Confraternity Bible (1950) & I noticed it has a “a prayer before reading any part of Holy Scripture”. A couple days ago I saw a beatup early version of the NAB (1970) which had a prayer to the Holy Ghost on the first page, but no indulgence.
So I got curious & checked my other Catholic Bibles: 2 NABs, 1 Jerusalem, & 1 RSV-CE. Guess what? None of them have prayers though they’re rich in archeological theory and stuff like that.
FWIW, here’s the prayer from the Douay/Confraternity:

Come, Joly Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Thy love. Send forth Thy spirit and they shall be created. And thou shalt renew the face of the Earth.
Let us pray
O God, who didst instruct the hearts of thy faithful people by sending them the light of Thy Holy Spirit, grant us the same Spirit , to discern what is right, and enjoy His comfort forever. Thru Christ our Lord. Amen
