Yes that happened to my kids…my daughter even got a lowe grade b/c she was “having trouble with the sign of the cross”. This was after we had told her teacher earlier in the year that she was Eastern…she doesn’t take communion either (mostly b/c she doesn’t want to be singled out) but I’m sure they would give us grief!
ETA: I will say that at their first Catholic school we didn’t have any problems…my older daughter was in 1st grade at the time and her teacher was fine with her receiving, although she’s painfully shy so didn’t want to even though her teacher encouraged her
However THIS school is much more “traditional”…as in rad trad…
