For a number of reasons of which I think if I posted here - would be hurtful to many Catholics. I have no desire to hurt anyone here.
Thank-you JOC for that wonderful comment. I like you would never have any desire to hurt anyone. But I do think, at least hope we can discuss our faiths and not mean it as being hurtful. I think many people especially Catholics who have left the CC left because they never really understood it at all. This Site is filled with People who can attest to that fact.

I just wish sometimes People could say that did not understand things in the CC first before they accuse the CC of having false teaching, etc. Because then we coud show them why and where we get our teachings.

But it seems more people would rather bash the RCC then learn what it really teaches. I guess it makes them feel better or something.🤷

Sometimes I think they are afraid to learn the truth. Why, I will never understand.

***Both for you and us, it depends on where you look.BUT there is great truth in [large numbers] for your statement. ***

***May I humby suggest you read. Mt.16:15-19 and Eph. 2: 19-21, an John 20: 21-23. Then read John 17:15-17, and Acts 20:28. There can only be a single truth for any issue. On matters of Fah and or Morals it does by God’s Dvine Will and plan, reside in the CC.

Might you share some of the inconsistancies with me?***

The manner in which Matthias was selectd is not much different than th way bishops are CHOSEN today.

Local Bishops submit a list of candidats to Rome, The Curia department “of Bishops” investigates and discuss each candidates, make recommendations to the Pope, who has final say; but seldom disagrees with the Congregations recommendations. I know this to be fact as I am a Certified Member of the Marian catecheist Apostolate, and our International Director , Archbishop Raymond L. Burke, was just added to his Congregation.

Sorry 😊, but I don’t understand this point at all? Please clarify.

😃 From your lips dear frind to God’s ear’s!

Love and prayers,
Pat
The verses you provide are interesting, but they do not prove the priviledge of Peter beyond Peter himself. I am willing to concede Petrine primacy, but not Petrine supremacy. Since the Pope has ultimate authority over who is chosen to be Bishop, he has no equals. To call him first among equals is simply not factual. An equal cannot hire and fire those who are equal to him.

On my point concerning the reformation, I think the RCC has conceded little with regard to the reasons for its happening, its contributions to the Christian world, and the debt the RCC owes to the reformers. The very fact that the language of the Catholic mass went into the vernacular over 400 years after this practice was begun by the reformers shows how long the RCC resisted a very good idea.

I read a service leaflet for the local RC bishop’s enthronement. It included the hymn, “O God our Help in Ages Past”, written by a great English dissenter (not Anglican). So much of the musical and liturgical heritage of Christendom has come from protestants and Anglicans. Of course, much has also come from the post Reformation Roman Catholic Church and from the united church before the reformation.

Having said that, a priest named Joseph Ratzinger (who apparently has gone on to great prominence), in his book Introduction to Christianity (if a book was ever misnamed, that is it!), cites two protestant theologians before he ever cites a Catholic one. He mentions both Harvey Cox (former chaplain at Harvard) and Soren Kierkegaard, the Danish Lutheran.

I’m here all week. 😉
Hypatia, I have a quick question for you if you don’t mind. Do ALL Muslims reject Jesus Christ? What I mean is there are some Jews that are Christians. Are any Muslims Christians?

Rinnie,

Just a point to consider. “Jew” is a nationality as well as a religion…men and women of Jewish ancestery have been “Christian”…but they are still of Jewish ethnicity…“Muslim” is a follower of Islam and knows no ethnicity…a Muslim who is Christian…is a Christian and no longer a Muslim…so to answer the question…"No there are no “Muslim Christians” in the same way as there are “Jewish Christians.” Just wanted to make that distinction.🙂

We do not reject Jesus (pbuh), just the idea that Jesus was God. Islam views him as one of the prophets, and he shows up quite prominently in the Qur’an.

Oh gotta ya. Was just wondering about that. I know that they get a bad rap for the bad Muslims like we all can for the people in our faith who really do not live it according to Gods word. But was never sure what their views were on Jesus. Again thanks.

I will put that piece of infor in the memory bank and push save:D

I understand, kind of how the Jewish faith does. I know this is a stupid question but what is the big difference between what you believe and follow and what the Jewish faith believe and follows? Or is it too long or etc to go into?

very off topic, so I’ll be quick: from the Muslim perspective, I would say the principle difference is the Jewish belief in a particular, privileged relationship and covenant between themselves and God by which they are God’s chosen people. Islam is the universal religion: a relationship to God, available to all, equally.

I am not a Catholic because of various reasons. I will post the two most important:

  1. *]I do not believe that being a Catholic will improve my relationship with God. I feel more connected to God the way I am now, but I hope that in the future He will reveal more of Himself to me, that I will improve and, by His grace, I will become more like Jesus Christ.
*]I strongly disagree with various Catholic dogmas and doctrines.

Thanks. short sweet and to the point. I like that. And yes its OT my sincere apologies to the OP. Back to the subject at hand.😃

=Publisher;I must admit…I am not privy to the whole workings of the mind and will of God as you are. In my time here at CAF I’ve read over and over that no one knows the fate of another’s soul…they must have overlooked your deep insight on the matter however…you are to be commended…bless you.🙂
I’ll “take my chances” and believe and trust my own experience with God and trust in His steadfast love and mercy…the mercy which endures forever…then to divest myself of my own good judgement… “For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” and allow myself to follow your counsel. As I mentioned before…I am not concerned about “the next life”…it will take care of itself. I will trust in the One who knows me best and loves me most…I’m in very Good Hands, but I thank you for your concern, even though I feel it is very misplaced.
Peace to you Friend
My dear friend in Christ,

Perhaps I could have and should have chosen better language to share what absolutely needs to be shared? I wish to be clear, that none of the positions presented are ONLY personal views which is why I support my positions with Biblical foundations, and reliable and confirmable CC Official Teachings.

You are obviously mature enough to make your own choices, and God designed us to permit such independent thought. But one also ought to know, as you desire to know more about the Catholic Faith, that God Created Humanity for a very precise reason. ONLY One. [Isaiah 43: 7, 21 and Rom.14:11, 15:11.]

Sadly the are a great many who do not know that God will judge us on what He has provided opportunity for us to know, not simply what we acknowledge as truth; but truth from God’s own perspective. That is an essential bit of information.

If I have been too forceful, allow me please to apologize. I am not passing judgment, only solid Catholic Teaching. 😊 :o

If you have any questions about what we do, what we believe or why, I would be grateful for the opportunity to share them, not as my opinion but as the Bible and CC teach them.

Again I caution you that simply taking ones chances is very and an unnecessary risky position.

I have as posted, kept you in my prayers,

May God guide your search and may it bear great and abundant fruit.

Love and prayers,

Pat

No, Really I don’t understand. I mean I understand that you did not feel the Priest and you connected on a spiritual level, but for me that would never have me change from my faith.

And I have no idea about the Man made rules you are talking about. Unless you mean that Jesus was truly God and Truly Man. We must be talking about different churchs or something:confused: But I am glad that you are at peace. And I will pray that you can someday return.😃
He truly seemed disinterested to answer questions or discuss faith. He seemed preoccupied by something else. As I said earlier the gospel as presented on christian TV along with their discussion of scripture blew past anything I was taught. Eight years catholic grammar school CCD and confirmation in my senior year. Also did some home groups.

I’m not looking to offend or argue but here are a couple of examples, no meat on Fridays during Lent. I never missed mass but being a sin to do so is man made.

I remember when my aunt and uncle left in the 70’s the family scandal it caused in a hard core catholic family. I prayed many years for their return. Now about ¾ are now bible Christians.

***Friend, your speaking of Church PRACTICE which in this case has alrady been changed EXCEPT for Ash Wed. and Good Friday.

Mt. 16:19 spefically give not only the authority but the requirement for the Pope to make rules an regulations benefical to spiritual well being of all Catholics.***

That’s how long I’ve been gone I didn’t even know it was changed. It was always a sin to eat meat on Friday during Lent. The nuns told us we would go to hell. If it has been changed to only two days now are those who were guilty before now forgiven?

Friend,

Thank you for your prayers…I will continue on my own faith journey walking in the Light as I put my trust in the Lord…the same as you…He is my Hope…I can do nothing else but place myself in His Strong Hands…He will deal justly and gently with both of us I’m sure.🙂

Jericho you are confusing Church discipline with Church doctrine. I can see by what you are posting why you left the CC. It is quite simple you never understood it. You can blame the Priest, the Church, the milkman. hey you can even blame me if you want. But what would it change. Ignorance of the faith is ignorance of the faith.

Perhaps you can take some time this lent, and forego meat, Not because it is a Church discipline at lent, but for the reason you were to not eat meat in the first place. To remember, remember on Fridays what Christ did for you at lent.

And maybe start learning the Catholic faith, then you can make up your mind again when you understand it. Bet you one thing, I can not promise you will come back, but you will hunger for what you have lost. And it wont be the meat on Friday:D

ANd to your publisher there is much you can also do. You can study really study the teachings of the RCC. Then you will understand why it claims and rightly so to be the Fullness of the Faith. I have always put my faith in Jesus Christ my dear Lord and Savior since I could remember to talk. And he has never let me down. My Church has never let me down, because I have learned my Church is indeed the true Light of the World. One in the Same my Dear Lord and Savior.

But while you are placing yourself in his strong hands you can learn the teachings that he left his Apostles here to teach you .😃
