Why pray if God has already made up his mind?

This comes to mind.

Luke 11:9-13 And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
 
Pray like the Lord prayed:

“Not my will but your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”

It is not for Him to understand us (He already knows us more than we know ourselves!), but for us to understand Him, and acknowledge that whatever may come, the right path is His ordained path.

In over 102 attempts this was tried to answer, but let me all the same try a 103rd answer:

We are NOT absolutely determined, but own a God-given free will. This free will we might use to ask the Father in Jesus and the Holy Spirit’s name for the things we need. Jesus said so in many verses - e.g. in Joh 14,13.

Still; - our desires sometimes are silly, like the dog’s who begs for the lump of poison. Let’s therefore always add: Your will be done, not mine, for mine is not foreseeing it’s consequences. ever more so, since we know that God is love itself and won’t give us stones when we ask for bread - match Mt 7,9.

Yes, God does response to our prayers. All who live in God (=in real belief) have lived that and felt it and witness this fact, which is stated on so many places in the gospel.
It’s prayers that keep the world go around - not money.
