I dont understand why anyone, of any christian faith, would pray to anyone but God. Didn’t God say our Father would take care of us, that he knew every hair on our head and has counted them? These are the words of christ Himself:
*Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? *
I get all the referrences to intercession of saints and all that from Paul and others, but why go there? Jesus told us Himself to ask, and it will be given. He knows our needs better than we know them ourselves. He didnt say pray to the saints and Im more likely to listen to you. He didnt say if you say 5 Hail Marys and 3 Our Fathers or whatever, I’ll be in a better mood to hear ya. No. He said ask the Father.
So how has all this intercession stuff taken over? My view is that every second wasted on other stuff is time that could have been spent worshiping God, Adoring God, asking God for help.
I dont know the Bible all that well, so maybe Im wrong? Are there examples where Jesus himself said to pray to anyone other than God the Father?
