Why Respectfully toward Protestants and Rude to Mean toward Mormons

Y’know, I’ve been saying for a very long time that the reason that Catholics and others deny Mormons the right to call themselves Christian is because 'he whom one would persecute, one must first make ‘other.’" Why? Because of course one cannot be ‘mean’ to fellow Christians. That’s just not right. So…if you dislike someone and want to treat them badly, first…kick them out of the club.

How nice of you to provide such a beautiful example of exactly what I have been talking about.
No, the reason Christians deny the “right” of Mormons (and JW’s) to call themselves Christians, is that those two sects are fundamentally heterodox, teaching the most unspeakable blasphemies.
THAT is why Mormans and JW are not Christians.

Oddly enough, I find it to be extremely logical.

But then, I don’t come from a tradition that finds logic in the treasured traditions of Catholic beliefs and ceremonies. From outside, some of the things you believe are just plain strange.

But that’s OK. Religious beliefs, seen from outside the religion, will seem strange to any observer. That’s where faith comes in, and understanding of symbolism, and personal relationships with God.

Y’see, all the questions that atheists and agnostics ask of religious folk, that Catholicism and others can’t answer? You know, the ‘problem of evil,’ for instance…why God allows horrific things to happen to people…why children die, why there is such pain…Mormonism answers that very logically from within the framework of our beliefs. Catholicism, as far as I can see, doesn’t. It skips over it, but never quite answers it.

“Where did God come from?”
Mormonism answers it a bit more completely than Catholicism does.

“Why did God create us?”
Does Catholicism answer that one at all?

“What is our purpose?”
Same thing.

What ABOUT science and religion?
No problem with Mormonism as far as I’ve seen…Catholicism has been fighting with it for a very long time. It may have finally given up the battle, but it was a long, hard fought war. 😉

Why aren’t there prophets and revelation any more, when there always used to be?
Mainstream Chrsitianity…because, well, there isn’t.
Mormonism…actually, there is.

See?
I find plenty of logic in Mormonism.

You find it elsewhere. I don’t see the logic in yours, either—but please notice that I have refrained from behaving towards your beliefs as you behave towards mine.
There was no logic in those statements.

The mere fact that an answer is given does not mean that said answer is correct… And if it is not correct, then it is inadmissible.

You and HoseMonkey seem like very angry bitter people. Are you a former Mormon? I just wonder where all this seething hatred comes from?
Seething hatred? I don’t hate anybody. Hatred is an emotion that consumes too much energy. I didn’t even “hate” the VietCong. And they were trying to kill me. One thing that I DO dislike intensely is dishonesty and there is much dishonesty in mormonism. The entire history of mormonism is steeped in falsehood and double-dealing. All the way from Joseph Smith’s fabrication of the BOM to the recent scandals involving forged mormon documents and frantic cover-ups by senior mormon officials, down to the failure by mormon missionaries to fully disclose the whole truth about mormon beliefs to prospective converts. THAT’S what I dislike about mormonism, aside from the fact that it is false and contrived and yes, sometimes blasphemous. Other than that, they are just fine. Most mormons are very nice folks, but badly deluded and trapped in an endless circle that they find very difficult to escape from.

Well, I don’t tknow. The Luthern Church allows transsexuals to be pastors. Is that not blasphemy? Please let me know.

I find protestants and catholics too protective of who is a christian and who is not. I will leave it up to Christ to decide. 🙂 But I can understand why it is so. It is a power thing and makes christianity an exclusive club.

Please…I have read your posts for years. You do not like mormonism or mormons even though it may not be hatred.

Now if I changed the word mormonism for catholicism in your above post and changed some names a protestant can make his or her case too. Coverups? Dishonesty? The whole truth? double dealing? All can be found in many christian religions since religious sects are made up of human beings.

However, mormons are wonderful people and kind people, not all but many. And this is a reflection on their religion. The world is a better place because of mormonism. And in the end, that is what matters.

Where do you keep getting this idea that there are multiple Christian religions? There is only ONE Christian religion, and you either follow it by having faith in the Holy Trinity as correctly given to us by Christ Himself or you don’t. Mormons don’t, so they’re not “another” Christian religion, but another NON-Christian religion.
However, mormons are wonderful people and kind people, not all but many. And this is a reflection on their religion.
How do you figure? I know many atheists and agnostics who are just as kind and loving as any religious people I know. Does this mean that atheism or agnosticism is good, or is it proof that good people can belong to many faith communities?
The world is a better place because of mormonism. And in the end, that is what matters.
No it isn’t. What the heck are you talking about?

Well, I don’t tknow. The Luthern Church allows transsexuals to be pastors. Is that not blasphemy? Please let me know.
Yes it is. Fortunately, the “Lutheran Church” doesn’t allow that.
Some nominally (but not in reality) Lutheran churches do, but that does not mean that “the Lutheran Church” does.

And btw - nice attempt to change the subject. The confessional writings of the Lutheran church are wholly orthodox, whereas the confessional writings of the Mormons and JWs are wholle heterodox.
I find protestants and catholics too protective of who is a christian and who is not. I will leave it up to Christ to decide. 🙂
That’s WAY too easy an argument, and you have to know that…
But I can understand why it is so. It is a power thing and makes christianity an exclusive club.
It is a desire to protect the truth, and to not let any false brothers poison the church by their false teachings and blasphemies. Then call it whatever you want. I’m concerned with the truth - not with pleasing the majority and calling black white and white black…

I do my very best not to discriminate… I am rude and mean to mormons AND JWs.👍
:D;)

You do not believe that Jesus was God. You believe that Jesus was another God; birthed by God.

He was NOT made, he was begotten! (Grrr, this is exhausting, like talking to a brick wall)!
mormonism has been thought through very logically…and has been found to be…ILLOGICAL.😃
Correct!
Oddly enough, I find it to be extremely logical.

But then, I don’t come from a tradition that finds logic in the treasured traditions of Catholic beliefs and ceremonies. From outside, some of the things you believe are just plain strange.
Strange? …thats very funny, since catholics were practicing these STRANGE things for over 1800 years before “mormons” came into creation.

Hmm, even though mormons use to vow to slit their own throats back in the past?

This stems from, as you probably already know, Joseph Smith’s involvement with Freemasonry. As a (former) Freemason of over twenty years, I can assure you that when I compare the rituals of Freemasonry with the mormon endowment ceremony, I can find virtually NO difference. The primary difference being that women are not admitted to Freemasonry. This endowment ceremony is Christian in name only and has little of the sacred about it. It is a straight-up mockery of the Masonic initiation. As to disliking mormons, I dislike the dishonesty of the organization, I dislike the obfuscation of their missionaries(in all fairness, they are just kids who simply do what they are told and parrot the Party line) and I dislike their contention that the mission of Jesus Christ Himself was a failure and that they had to come along and fix everything a second time. I dislike people who attempt to pee on my back and try to convince me that it is raining. It’s what the Jews call “Chutzpah.” OBTW, thanks for the compliment, WhyMe, but you are still a religious schizophrenic.

<snip to here.
The Democrats are a screwed-up motley band and I loath much about them but I will say that they are more teacher-friendly and helpful than the GOP any day of the week. I know saying ANYTHING nice about Democrats is a capital offense on CAF so, I’ll now duck and prepare for the grenades to come…
My experience of the Teacher’s Union in California is that it is all for its agenda…and will not help the teachers individually.

I found that out the hard way.

Hosemonkey is a good guy. However, he doesn’t like mormonism. He has more or less been retired from the mormon threads. But now he is back. 🙂
I will retire when they pry the keyboard from my cold, dead hands.😉

Crazed, just crazed… mormons shouldn’t be allowed to have kids.
