Why should Cafeteria Catholics leave the Church? How could we?

I can’t help but think that this is the same response that people had to Jesus when he had some “hard sayings”. See John 6. After Jesus said that very difficult saying people went to look further into other theologies because they found Him so offensive.
Amen! Sometimes the truth IS hard for people to accept, sometimes they WILL find it offensive and some will run a mile rather than hear it. Others, like the Apostles, might not understand, might even disagree, but will accept anyway

Jesus said the world would hate both Him and His followers. And He was not all sweetness and apple pie all the time. He called Peter Satan at one point  How many of us would be both humble and courageous enough to stick with someone who was THAT blunt in speaking the truth in love to us!

Sorry, the catholic school I grew up in taught us about a loving, gentle God, not one that condemns, judges, and demeans people with snide remarks. I believe He would take the time and understanding of each individual, but then He would also have the means to know that person heart.

Why do you only pick the Catholic teachings that conform to your own palatable ideals?

Do you have any beliefs that you have conformed to because the CC has revealed them?

Or does your idea of God conveniently match that which you happen to believe yourself?

For example, you happen to want to be divorced and remarried? So now you decide that God doesn’t really care if you divorce and re-marry?

Or perhaps you want to attend your friend’s Same Sex Commitment Ceremony and so you now decide that God really wants 2 men to be able to love each other sexually?

Isn’t that the essence of creating a god in your own image?

Did you ever go to catholic school that had nuns? They were very blunt on a daily basis. You might not agree, but I can handle those who are blunt. I just find it sad the there are catholics out there that cannot reach out to people in a more mature, Christian way.
