Why shouldn't Protestants receive Communion at Mass?

My Protestant friend comes to mass (with our invitation) quite frequently. For the first time this weekend she went up to receive the Body AND the Blood of Christ at Mass. The Eucharistic Ministers didn’t know that my friend was not Catholic, so they both gave her the Host and the Cup. I was aghast at what just happened but chose to address the matter after mass. I tried to explain to her that she did not believe like we Catholics do of the Real Presence of the Body of Christ in the form of bread, and the Real Presence of the Blood in the form of wine. Also, by her being a Protestant she did not believe in the Pope and the True Church of Jesus so shouldn’t receive Communion at a mass because of not having those beliefs. I think I hurt her feelings and she questioned me further later on in the weekend. She does not really understanding why she shouldn’t have received communion. I don’t know if I told her the right things and I am running out of arguements for the reasons. Thanks for your response and God Bless your work , cathy14
