If this has been asked before could you please direct me to some info, and I apologize.

My fiance and I have been engaged for over 6 months. We did not go to a priest around here b/c our living situation was uncertain at the time. We now know where we will be but the church requires us to wait another 6 months before getting married. Is there any way around this? We were hoping to get married by September. I understand not rushing into things, and taking the classes, but why always 6 months?

Dear friend,

Those of us who vow celibacy spend at least four years in preparation for such a commitment. It is until death, after all!

Six months is hardly too long for a commitment of marriage that is just as long. By your very question, you sound like you very much need at least six months. You are in our prayers.
