Why so many healings w/Benny Hinn?

I question why so many get physical healing at a Benny Hinn crusade but I never see that at Catholic services, even at Charismatic ones. As Catholics, we have the Eucharist, isn’t there tremendous power in that? What are we missing then? It seems like Benny Hinn bears much good fruit. Do you know of anyone in the Catholic faith that has the gift of the Holy Spirit for physical healing?

I saw a piece on *Dateline *a few months ago about Hinn’s “healings”.
Every person interviewed about these “healings” was checked by a doctor afterwards and found to still have the affliction Hinn “healed”.
 
Miracles do occur in the Catholic church. The difference between a Catholic miracle and a Protestant miracle is that the vatican will thouroughly research any claim of miracles. Items such as medical documents and physcian testomony are heard before a miracle is deemed truthful.

Protestants aren’t bound by the same rules, so you never know if the miracle that you are hearing about is genuine or the result of fraud.

I find this almost painful to read. I can’t really explain why, but it is so. It reminds me too much of this scripture:

“He saved others; He cannot save Himself. He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him.”

Not that I am a fan of Benny Hinn! It is just a feeling.
 
This guy is totally fake. The IRS is investigating him for tax fraud he lives a lavish lifestyle and gives only a small percentage of the money his ministries take in to the poor. His so called healing have been proven false in many cases. He has made a series of false prohecies:

“The Spirit tells me Fidel Castro will die in the 90’s. Oh my! Some will try to kill him and they will not succeed. But there will come a change in his physical health, and he will not stay in power, and Cuba will be visited of God.”

There are miracles and no doubt some have happened in many different Protestant Churches. I have my doubts about Benny Hinn as I really doubt the commercialism I see there in his ministry. I am reminded of those old western movies where they have the guy coming into town with the healing tonic he sells.

May God bless Him and bring him closer to the truth and the people who see him hopefully might come to a better relationship with Christ. If they do they might keep searching for truth in order to do God’s will and not just what they want. (money, healings, etc.)

I know a couple who went to a Benny Hinn meeting with friends. They watched as people who worked for him, “sorted” the people out who would be called up front to be “healed”.
In every case, those who had conditions that could not be made to look like a healing (when nothing had happend), were carefully refused from the lines of those to be “healed”.
The lady they went with had been in a wheel chair for years. She was not chosen…Their conclusion was that if you had a sickness or condition that it would be obvious that you were not healed, that they did not want you going up to him. (Based on how folks were being screened).
I would add that both of them were open to the idea of healing, and that they were both deeply disappointed to see that Hinn was acting like a fraud.
I do believe that there are many healing of physical & other ills, by both Catholic & Protestant (& no doubt Eastern Orthodox) Christians. I just think that we need to be very discerning, because there are folks out there that are out for the status, & not because they are genuinely “healers”.
I would think that it would be easy enough to find miracles in the Catholic church, because of the close investigation of those attributed to Catholic saints…
 
The other trouble I have had with Hinn is that he might be healing, but I question who his authority is to be healing. Demons have frequently made things appear healed.

The healings in the Catholic Church are so beautiful. Many healings (like my own) were because of the Truth of the Church’s teachings. I was led to full union with The Church against contraception through severe female health issues. It was the teaching of NFP that led to a gradual healing of my infertility.

While not sudden and visual like Hinn’s theatrics, my healing is nonetheless a healing. My son is such an adorable little proof.

When Jesus sent out the Apostles, he “gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to drive them out and to cure all kinds of diseases and all kinds of illness” (Matthew 10:1). Immediately after this verse comes the list of Apostles, which includes Judas Iscariot among those who received this authority from Jesus.

Benny Hinn is a fraud is every sense of the word and is one of the most corupt televangelists out there and he not really Christian like many of these televagelists I think they are just giving lip service to people so they can their money and don’t really belive at all.
 
I once saw Hinn in action (in person). He put on quite a show…But, that’s all it was…a show.
I certainly do believe in the power of God to heal, and I believe that some people just might be conduits of that healing…But…I do not think real “healers” would make a show of their gift.
Also…You should see the “goon” type of men who surround BH…Real muscle men. And…large buckets were passed around to gather all the money…People were urged to give as much as they could…BH then pretended not to be able to approach the podium…There was an “invisible force” that would not allow him to get near it…People were throwing articles of clothing up to him…they were also being “slain in the spirit” by the hundreds…There was a sense of frenzy…I was in shock…

LOL That was funny mean but funny.
O.P There was a Steve Martin movie made a few years ago I forget the name of it. But he played the part of a person like Benny Hinn.
 
It’s called “Leap of Faith,” and is a hillarious movie.

This is IMPORTANT to remember…

Christ gave us the ability to cast out demons and perform healings, this is true. And people from all walks of life can do these things. But that doesn’t mean we should consider every act of them to be true.

I ask this…

Would the Holy Spirit continue to guide someone who heals people like it’s show business and lives in a mansion with riches?

I don’t remember ever reading where Jesus flaunted his ability (did he not tell lots of people he healed not to tell others?). And I certainly don’t remember Jesus telling people to get rich and buy expensive things. As a matter of fact, he told the rich man to give all his belongings away.

If Hinn bears any cross at all, it must be a light one in order for him to make such a spectacle of the Lord’s divinty. Or rather his real cross is burried deep in his closet.

I only hope that he brings people closer to Christ without making false promises and he himself gets closer as well. Time can only tell.

Please do not believe all of this about Benny Hinn, Leroy Jenkins,Don Stewart and Rod Parsley,all have been seen as fakes’. Leroy is selling "holy water and Don is selling healing clothes,PLEASE

It’s not baldness he needs to be healed of, it’s the comb-over that needs healing!! Baldness is a gift of God. Insecurity is a frailty of man.

i saw a program on BH and the German guy who did most of his
preaching in Africa…

on the program, an Indian couple with a son who was sick, wrote
to Hinn, sent him thousands of dollars, even though they could not
afford it, they were from Washington state, i believe…

anyway, Hinn eventually came to their area, and they took their son
and, it so happens, the camera crew that was doing the
documentary…

when Hinn’s men saw the camera crew, they appearently decided
it would be better to allow them to bring the child to the stage,
which they did, and Hinn did his healing over him, of course saying
that it wasn’t him who would heal, but God…

within the next few months the child died… the parents were
asked if they still believed in Hinn, they answered, yes, the
reason their prayer wasn’t answered was that their faith
wasn’t strong enough…

i was torn between total anger, and an overwhelming sadness…
