Why the bible is most assuredly not a Catholic book,

You do realize thet the Easter Triduum (sp?) coincides with Passover, right? YOu do realize that in most languages the word for “easter” is derived from the Larin word for “Passover”? You do realize that Jesus is our Passover Lamb, right? We celebrate Passover seperately from the Jews, but believe me, it is celebrated.
Good point - The Mass is our Pascha, and Jesus is our Paschal Lamb. 👍

Thank you. When I was an Evegelical, the OT just didn’t get alot of attention, except for the occasional lip service. When i became CAtholic, I learned how much the OT and NT are really interdependent if you want to get a full understanding.

And remember the lamb for Passover had to be unblemished and the lamb had to be eaten by all in the household. Who still eats the Lamb, Catholics and Jews. The unblemished lamb being a pre-figurement for Christ on the cross … his legs were not broken while on the cross.

Up until 70 AD, the Catholic faith was recognized as a sect of Judaism. In 70 AD, our little sect was formally ejected from the Jewish community, and became a separate religion. This was all part of God’s plan - the Covenant of Moses and the Covenant of Jesus were never meant to be practiced both at the same time.

But it was the High Priest of the Temple who forbade us from partaking in the Passover and in all other distinctively Jewish ceremonies - it was not the Pope. The Pope is simply being obedient to the command of the High Priest of the Temple. The Temple was actually destroyed and the High Priest was murdered in the same year, so the chances of having the ruling overturned are non-existent - it is what it is, and we move on.
Council of Nicea in 325 and Council of Antioch in 341 -
Christians forbidden to celebrate Passover with Jews.

Then tell me why you drink blood when the Jews never drank the blood of the lamb?

Excuse me … obviously you don’t know much about what Catholics do or believe. I have drunk the blood of the Lamb. That’s the beauty of being a Catholic.

This is most certainly the most beautiful thing about being Catholic! I simply cannot wait to be able to do it at communion! 😃

The Council of Nicea gives the text of the Nicene Creed, refutes the errors of those who deny the Trinity, proclaims that heretics who have been correctly baptized do not need to be rebaptized, and that Viaticum may be given to any heretic who requests it on his death-bed; however, should he live, and if he persists in his heresy, he will not receive Holy Communion in the assembly of the faithful.

There is no mention of the Jewish Passover that I can find, nor any instruction to Catholics regarding it.

I can’t find any record of a Council of Antioch in 341, or any Council of Antioch at all.

There is a Council of Serdica in 343 AD, which proclaims that no Bishop should move from one Diocese to another without the permission of the Bishop of Rome, and that in the case of a Bishop who is under investigation for any kind of wrong-doing, his position will not be taken by another until the Bishop of Rome has decided against him and found him guilty of whatever it was that he was accused of - and at that point, it falls to the Bishop of Rome to appoint another Bishop in his place. If he is found innocent of the charges, he resumes his place and continues his work as before.

There is no mention of the Passover of the Jews in this Council, nor any instruction to Catholics regarding it.

There are only two mentions of the Church at Antioch in the accounts of the Councils of the Church and Papal Decrees - the first is to mention that the Church at Antioch was under attack by pagan men from Mongolia, and was in need of prayers and material support. (Boniface I, To the Macedonian Bishops, 422 AD)

The second was simply to mention in passing that St. Peter had been Bishop of Antioch during his career, but that his Bishopric is in Rome because that is where he died. (Gelasius I, On the Primacy of the Bishop of Rome, 495 AD).

We drink from the Holy Grail - the Chalice of the Lord’s Blood that gives everlasting life. 👍

In the Passover the blood of the lamb is never ever drunk.
You say your Eucharist is the rievised Passover meal.
It does not correlate because the blood was not drunk and you claim that is what you do.

Ufam Tobie
I was asked which were some of my favorite Catholic saints.
John Wesely is also a favorite of mine, what do you think of him?

John wesley; he was the founder of my church (Methodist). Of course, he is with the Lord now.

O MY JESUS, FORGIVE US OUR SINS,
SAVE US FROM THE FIRES OF HELL.
LEAD ALL SOULS TO HEAVEN,
ESPECIALLY THOSE IN MOST NEED OF THY MERCY.
