Why the catholic church is most the target

I have a theory about why the catholic church is targeted more than any other group much of the time. Its because the worldly people take the RCC more seriously than other religious groups. This is not an attack or denigration of those groups. Its just that the RCC has been around the longest, and is the most well known and among the most outspoken, and its also the one which has changed the least overall, and is probably the least likely to compromise or negotiate beliefs to fit the world.

The Catholic Church opposes just about everything people think they want to do these days. Of course it is going to be targeted.

And some poeple just hate the truth - Well, not really. They like their own truth, but not Absolute truth (that applies to everyone).

Yet in a way, all humans appreciate truth to some extent because everyone has a consciense (at least at birth + some odd years) - they just don’t always want to make the so called sacrifices required to live truth. (I say So-called because the sacrifices a person makes to follow Jesus are nothing compared to the rewards, even if most of the rewards are only received later, WAY later:hypno:.)

Z’ism doesn’t seem to be as old.

The wiki article also discusses how other younger religions affected Z’ism throughout the centuries, so I’m not sure what exists today is too close in concept to what existed 1000 B.C.

I have to disagree.

As I said earlier, I think that Catholic forums like CAF are neither much better than nor much worse than the typical Protestant forum. But I don’t consider CARM to be a typical Protestant forum. From what I hear, it has more than it’s share of uncharitableness.

I can vouch for the uncharitableness at CARM, at least a few years ago. When I was there the guy who ran the “ministry” (Matt Slick or some such pseudonym?) would threaten people who disagreed with him on certain things with banning and would overmoderate/remove some posts that pointed out obvious flaws in his positions.

I just googled carm for giggles … and it has the typical fundamental mantra. Christianity is under attack in schools (how dare dem dang teachers teach our kids logic or reason … dang heathens).

From the point of view of Raison d’Etat, all this logic and reason destroyed social stability as people started to attack the old Catholic Monarchs as a result.

obviously I spelled education incorrectly to make my point (as I’m sure you’re aware). Moreover, if no one ever attacked those Catholic monarchs … where would we be today? I’ll tell you, still living under a 14th century style theocracy. So I view those rebels as heroes of history.

The flag of freedom is soiled with blood my friend. But for those who laid down their lives in times past … we would be living in a much different and much more horrible world. If there is a god then I thank him for those men and women who were brave enough to fight the good fight and risk everything for the sake of others. That is how I define a hero.

In fact you’re even more the hero if you fight the good fight without believing you’ll be the beneficiary of some fictitious eternal reward. Then you really understand you’re risking everything.

Moreover, if no one ever attacked those Catholic monarchs … where would we be today? I’ll tell you, still living under a 14th century style theocracy.

I would love to have a society like this! Where people were devout and honor of God took precedent over everything. Where decadence and evil was denounced.

Then move to Pakistan or Iran. The Taliban are always looking for deluded westerners who long for theocratic tyranny. I have to warn you though … I’m in the Army (and if we meet on the battlefield … I’ll do my level best to send you to whatever god you believe in; and in as quick a manner as possible).

I’m not Islamic. Nor am I for tyranny or war.

But…perhaps one day Pakistan and Iran will be converted to the One True Faith with Catholic monarchies. What a glorious day that would be! Join me in prayer for this won’t you?

no … I’d probably have to protect you. I’m saying if you like theocracy so much then you do have choices out there (and examples of what a theocratic society really looks like, beyond the fictitious romantic appeal it seems to have with you).

Have you ever even tried to imagine what it’s like living in a theocracy? To say your church can do it better than Muslims is a fallacy believe me. A theocracy by its nature puts men in control that are privy to its authoritative power structure (and who usually have no business leading anyone).

Seriously … I don’t get ticked much, but when I think of Americans (or any westerner) who would like to revert back to a monarchal theocracy … it ticks me off (particularly since I’ve fought for the freedom of this country in seriously screwed up places like Iraq). You need to learn some appreciation for what you have in this country? Or perhaps enlist in the armed forces (if you’re not too old) and we’ll show what a theocracy looks like (I assure you that you’ll have a change of heart).

The list of Saints is HUGE! Pretty good track record.
It’s not a group btw, It’s the Body Of Christ. You should repent and be converted because your immortal soul is at stake. But I know you don’t care or believe. You should feel lucky that there are still zealous Catholics willing to pray for you.
