To clear things up, I’m not saying gays should be married. In fact, I don’t think the state should have anything to do with marriage whatsoever. Leave that to the churches and let couples of whatever sex form partnership contracts for legal reasons, IMO.
I just think that gays should be allowed to adopt children as long as they are basically fit parents, just like a single mother can adopt providing that she is fit. Ideally, there would be enough man-woman couples to provide homes for these kids, but there aren’t, and the foster care system is a much bigger problem than a couple of women or a single parent raising a baby.
