Why the Japanese Earthquake Tsunami and suffering?

The church teaches that God created everything and that God is an all knowing, all powerful perfect being .

This would mean that when God created the earth he knew in advance that he was creating a faulty product with defects like earthquakes.

Why would God put humans in such a dangerous environment resulting is so much pain and suffering?
