Why the time has come for Conservative Libertarianism

How is your system different than that in, say, Cuba? Or do you mean something like a mega-kibbutz? In a secular society, why should people care about total strangers? When has a mutually-supportive utopia ever worked, outside a community founded on a common religion?.
There would need to be religious support in organizing such an idea even though it would be secular as a whole. Americans could relearn the philosophy of patriotism which is nearly lost today… This in combination with religious supporters and organizers, would be a perfect opportunity to salt the people with faith in addition to patriotism -two of the key ingredients of a sound society.
We all remember the Aesop fable about the ant and the grasshopper. In a nutshell, I see this as the basic problem we face in America, with our pluralistic ideas of freedom and work: Do we expect grasshoppers, to some extent, to become ants, do we force ourselves to watch the shortsighted grasshoppers starve, or do we make the ants the involuntary (and resentful) benefactors of the grasshoppers?

My big frustration is that it seems that right now it is too quickly assumed that an able-bodied hungry person must be a grasshopper, even though we all know that nothing could be further from the truth. Some of the very well-fed are slothful, and some of the very hard-working are destitute or one bad stroke of fate away from destitution, and yet in politics it is pretended that the well-off earned what they have and the badly-off have their own lack of industry or virtue to thank for their situation. That is such a lie.
In my family my father always said “those who do not work, do not eat”. I was expected to do my chores… But the dual economy allows for both the sloth and the grasshopper… Grasshoppers will tend to strive towards the capitalist system, while the sloths will stumble onto the socialist one. The beauty being that anyone of either kind has the choice.

Oh, I think there will be plenty of ants going the direction of capitalism. That is where the payoff is not limited, after all. Capitalists do not like limits on payoffs, and are willing to risk substantial losses to get them.

I think there needs to be one system and one set of rules in any locality. Otherwise, someone is going to play both sides from the middle. There will always be humans who hope to be more clever and industrious about getting out of work than doing it! Go figure.

I think we are not willing to watch grasshoppers die. On that account, there is not much choice but to expect grasshoppers to act like ants to some degree, or else to pay with consequences other than death. The work of politics is to work that out.

Well, as for myself, I agree with and find interesting the concept of “Conservative Libertarianism” specifically in a Law and Order sense…

The way I interpret the ideology of the OP, is that there should be more conservative changes in the media and among those who influence the lives of everyday people. Take for example movies that trivialize cocaine use, and pornography, and sex… What about the music that gets radio-time with it’s filthy lyrics…? If these things were cleaned-up, on a Conservative level, it would benefit the morality of the people… This would require Conservative law.

At the same time, the ***libertarian ideology in regards to order *** would imply that people need to be responsible for their own survival. That instead of using the government to achieve your needs, one might be better working together with others to build stability as a group.

I believe that the United States dollar should embark on a capitalist economy which should be global. I also think that there should be a second currency created as a privatized, yet socialized CO-OP system that is non-governmental, yet patriotic at the same time. For those whose jobs have gone overseas can surely organize to make products within their own system… A completely seperate monetary system.

You see, Libertarianism is all about Liberty and Personal responsibility. It’s about taking charge of your own life and making things happen. It’s not about reliance.

We have always been a nation of leaders… Not a nation of peasants.

(this is just my personal view).
^^^ this ^^^, except not sure about the need for the second monetary system
