There is much violence against Sikhs. Not only historically in India, but even in North America as in the Milwaukee Massacre.
Why? Does the issue go beyond a superficial and ignorant equating of them with Muslims and being Islamophobic? I, of course, mean in areas unaffected by hostorical violence. Let us pray for all people.

I’m not sure about India, but unfortunately, here in the US it seems to be because of a double dose of ignorance. First, ignorant people think it is OK to use violence against Muslims and then those fools are so dumb they think Sikh men are Muslims because they wear a turban and have beards.

Yes we should pray for all people, including the victims of violence and the close minded and hard hearted.

A lot of people are either ignorant or don’t care that there’s a difference between them and Muslims. They see turban and think terrorist.

In India they’ve been treated pretty poorly historically.

The Sikhs are a noble clan of people. They’re hardworking and have good ethics. I don’t believe in their religion and pray they all become Catholics, but they’re good people.

Islamophobes get confused because they cannot tell the difference between Muslims and Sikhs. Both of those groups have similar clothing.

Simply because of how they look.
Those who go out to seek and harm Muslims on the streets are irrational. And if they even dare to claim to be a disciple of Jesus, they are working against Him. At the End, according to the Gospel of Matthew, He will say to these people ‘I do not know you’ and you (should) know the rest.
Mind you, there’s some violence against Sikhs from Hindus in India if I remember correctly because of a separatist movement. But that’s a completely different topic.

Didn’t they say the perp in Milwaukee mistook the Sikh temple for muslims?

I don’t think there is really much hatred for Sikhs here in America.

Blessings
I have a Sikh friend in India. You should google Sikh faith.
Their God is called EkOnkr. It means one God. He has three subordinate gods. It’s like the Trinity. I can’t recall the personalities of their three subgods. They have a separate Bible. There has been battles about the Sikh state.
Of course, their God is not considered our Hod and/or Muslim God. Hence, infidel. CONVERT OR DIE. They meditate. They have money. Cool.
They are generous and caring.
That’s ehat I know. Yes, in USA, they are confused w Muslims. That’s an insult.
Lord, we are Your creations. We fail You in so many ways. What will it take to bring us together, THE PPL OF THE BOOK?
Anti-Semitism! JESUS, You are a Jew…
Forgive us, for we know not what we do.
In Jesus name. Amen

Is that really all there is to it? Mistaken identity by those who already are Islamophobic? And you know, Sikh kids are much more likely to be bullied than other kids too, especially since 9/11.

I am close to a few Sikh families in my town so I follow the Sikh news. The last several shootings of Sikhs have all been people mistaking them for Muslims.

It just isn’t the Sikhs. A Hindu gal here in Pittsburgh was mistakenly subject to hate crime here a few years ago.

It does seem to be mostly about misdirected Islamophobia. The Sikhs are good people. No one deserves that sort of violence, but it’s especially sad in the case of the Sikhs.

This really is a larger topic, why are people getting killed for being anything? Who they are, what they look like. Because they’d made you angry or fit your stereotype of who is more violent. Why do we glorify violence or instruments of death? Why do we believe in cases that we have the right or prerogative to?

It’s not, the Sikhs simply get a disproportionate amount of the misdirected violence. I hadn’t heard about the HIndu girl and that’s equally wrong.

I wonder if those same people call themselves Christians and what they would think of the great Patriarch and Prophet Aaron the brother of Moses…

Or what they’d think about the Coptic Pope Tawadros II.

They probably wouldn’t be that positive about that either. I’d advise Aaron to stay out of the bar when these anti-islamic folks are drinking.
