In apologetics regarding why we confess to a priest the scripture about Jesus forgiving the paralyzed man always comes up. Recently I heard John Martignoni mention Leviticus 19 where one would have a priest (obviously not in persona Christi) make a guilt offering and his sins would be forgiven. If this were so, then why were the pharisees surprised when Jesus forgave the paralyzed man? What am I missing here?
