I wonder why it is we emphasize that Jesus suffered so much. While I fully believe that He is God who came down and humbled Himself to be man and to die for our sins and we also know that as Man, he was tortured badly … but every time I hear and see how everyone highlights how much He suffered, I cannot help but think …"yeah but He is God. He is sacrificing Himself for all of mankind. He knows He is going straight to heaven. He knows how it’ll all turn out … "
What could have been troubling Jesus so much during the agony in the garden? Again … He knew how everything would turn out.
Compare that to any of His martyrs who may have died for the faith, while they had a strong hope of heaven, no one had His kind of certainty. Or compare to someone who sacrifices himself for one or two people … some of them not even Christians.
Why do we emphasize Jesus’ suffering when there have been many who have suffered as much, if not more and for much much less than all of mankind?
