why was noah drunk?

I had always seen him as a saint, but he got drunk…something that isnt proper of a saint. I guess I ignore something here.
 
Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard. He drank some of the wine, became drunk…

Its not entirely clear that Noah intended to get drunk. The passage states that Noah was the first to plant a vineyard, thus he might not have known the effects of drinking too much.

Jewish tradition tends to see this as a lesson that one bad choice leads to another. Jewish tradition sees the planting of the vineyard to be a silly thing for Noah to do so soon after getting off the ark, he should have planted things much more important (e.g. wheat). Noah was too focused on the “good things of life” rather than the essentials and let himself get carried away into drunkenness.

We should always remember that saints were not perfect. They committed sins and had weaknesses yet they loved God above all else and repented of their sins.
