Why were we born into this life

I’m going to try to explain myself to the best of my ability.
Have you ever wondered why you were born into the life you were?
I sometimes think how fortunate I am to have been born into my life. When I think of other things in my life, and how often I have been wrong. I often wonder why I am fortunate to have been in this life I have, but some others do not have the fortune. Why me, I’m not more worthy than the next person I don’t even do enough to be considered “blessed” to have this life like others have done.
I didn’t even pick to be born into this life but somehow I was born and all I ever had to do to get something I wanted was ask for it and smile and it was handed to me in a plate. Why do some people seem to go through life so easily yet for others it seems to be so hard?
Last night I was watching The Pursuit of Happyness and it really got me thinking some people struggle all their life trying to build their empire and don’t make it, some people struggle all their live and do get to build their own empire and enjoy it, but some people are born into an empire and just smile and enjoy it.
Why were we born into our life? What made this decision? Why?

As solidly Catholic as I am, I think for the most part its just statistics and genetics.

What is it, three million sperm, that’s 2,999,999 people you could have been?

God is fully aware of who will be created by a sexual union, I’m not sure if He reaches down and gives particular sperms a little nudge to ensure a particular person is concieved though. Maybe. Nothing is outside the realm of possibility for the Big Fella.

But its like I often think how lucky/blessed I am to be born in the West, in the country I’m in, and not in some dry desert where I’ll be married at 12 to a man in his 60s with 20 other wives, or born in horrific poverty, or a war zone. Or to even be concieved in teh womb of a pro-abortion woman.

God has a plan for every single human being that is born into this life. Our lives are a gift from Him, however painful or joyful it is. He wills our existence, but also gives us free will.
In life, our loyalty to Him is tested everyday by the evil one and his minions. The ones who banished themselves from Heaven do not want God’s creatures who have a chance to enter into His Kingdom to reach those “gates”.

We are born to love God and show our love for Him through prayer, serving at Mass, and helping others unselfishly. Whether a person is born into a life of material comfort or desperate poverty, everything has its purpose according to God’s plan. We may not always understand it, and sometimes we may be resentful. If we want something that is not in that plan, it usually won’t happen. Why? Because in His infinite Wisdom, he knows what is best for us, even if we don’t agree. Pray for peace of soul when you feel that you don’t understand your role in life. We all have roles to ‘play’. Aim to play it to the best of your ability for the love of God, our Creator.

I don’t believe there is a “why.” You are who you are by the chance combination of potentially millions of variables, above and beyond considerations such as which sperm was successful at your conception. No “decisions” were made as to when, where and to whom you, specifically, were born.

If you want to believe that there is a God who gave you life for a specific purpose, then my answer is doubtless deeply unsatisfactory. But if that is the case, then ultimately only you can decide which religious answer makes you feel most comfortable.

Whatever you choose to believe, it’s right that you should feel lucky, or blessed (depending on your affiliation or lack thereof) to be in a position of privilege.

This is my belief as a naturalist, in the absence of any evidence to suggest otherwise. I thought that would be obvious! I have no evidence other than the well-known and proven general theory of physical cause and effect.

If comfort is the criterion, falsehoods will be found acceptable.
