Hi i was wondering why do some say that we either go to hevean or hell we know that we all get salvation eventually because of what Jesus did and promised so why would we go to hell ?
thanks chuck

We choose to either accept or reject God’s love in the decisions we make during our lives. Hell is the place for people who choose not to live as Christ taught us.

Christ’s saving act on the cross did not automatically guarantee salvation for all. One has to accept it and be incorporated into what he did through baptism, and then by living according to the Gospel.

Who goes to hell, if anybody, is entirely up to God’s judgment, however. But to say nobody is going to hell is to deny human free will that God gave us.

In your opinion should Hitler, Lenin, Staling, Mao, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il, Nero, etc go to heaven?

@buck - well no but they didn’t repent and wernt truly sorry for there sins so i dunno its up to god they probs and they rejected gods love but at the end of the days its about how much you lived out the will of god etc but you know what i mean - where they even Christian ?
but we all get salvation eventually as the bible and jesus said

ooof…While these are not representative of “good” people, we should not condem ANYONE to hell. Only God has the ability and the right to do so!
Notice that the Church only affirms those who we know are in heaven, and remains silent on even those we may think are in hell.

Simply said, if we choose to not love God, then we choose hell. The choice is ours. God gave this choice to us. It is called free will.

Here is the first person account of a man who was responsible for 75,000 abortions. He became a Catholic later in life.

Note: I’m not even suggesting anything good about the actions of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc.

Greetings Chuck1,

Put simply, if one dies unrepentant in a state of mortal sin, that one will be condemned to Hell. That person will never get out of Hell. Hell is eternal. One cannot die opposed to God and enter the kingdom of Heaven. One either serves God or Satan, there is no in between, no middle of the fence.

God Bless.

Anathema, your post is correct.
If one dies in UNREPENTED mortal sin, one goes to hell , according to church teaching.

What i find frustrating is that there seems to be no clear answer on what constitutes mortal sin.
especially the catholic answers forums.

please remember… in all things, Charity.
some one else mentioned hitler…is that charitable?

I said nancy p. because she PRESENTS herself as a Roman Catholic but is extremely pro choice.
so…My original question stands…SHOULD nancy Pelosi go to heaven?
fair question…

Chuck,

Where in Scripture does it say that every person upon earth will be saved eventually?

Where did Jesus promise that all people would automatically be with Him after their deaths?

That is not correct. Nothing anyone else said matters if you don’t understand this first.

Because it is a choice. God gives us a Free Will to choose. We all sin, as part of our sinful nature. But, if we persist in sin, a choice, vs. choosing to ask the Holy Spirit for Guidance and Protection from our sinful nature, we choose the opposite which can result in Hell. God wants us to choose Him, and what He has promised us; Eternal Life with Him. Even Paul had problems; i.e. " a thorn in his flesh"!

You choose hell or heaven…it’s your choice! Do you deny yourself daily and give yourself to God’s will for your life?
