Well that was what he said and that was it…it was in the past… and I didn’t see anything wrong with him telling him he didn’t play and that’s it… He doesn’t lie nor likes to pretend things, he’s not a hypocrite…
The point is that, as stated before, I have no reason to kiss anyone’s butt, we are honest people, we treat people fairly, if they don’t like it, I am sorry that is the way they feel, we don’t start problems, we stick to ourselves, and we always try to give as much as we can, even if it’s not monetarily…
Ummm, there is a huge difference between lying, being a hypocrite, kissing people’s butts and being civil, polite and kind.

My suggestion: Move when the lease is up. Before you rent, make sure you have no churches next door, and that the landlord will allow you to put up a temporary snow fence (very easy to set up, essentially green or orange “woven” plastic that is secured to poles that have hooks in them).

Until then, please be sure your dogs are quiet and their excrement is picked up as soon as they do their business, your kids are on their very best behavior even if they are not at fault, and your yard is immaculate.

Everything is always kept up, and I try to keep my children they way they should be happy but behaved… Dogs are only out to do their business and their business is picked up… I will continue doing this… thanks…

This is just my opinion:twocents: , but I think they want your landlord’s property, probably at a reduced rate, and are not necessarily after you and yours. Think about it. If it was just you guys, after your bf’s remark to the pastor, they would probably just “shake the dust from their feet” to quote the Bible, not set out to drive you nuts. If your landlord did not have a rental property, indeed sold the congregation the property, they could have all sorts of things, including but not limited to extra parking (demolish the house), a “social house” for fellowship, a place for a deserving homeless or immigrant family, another meeting place for classes, etc.

Well the property was for sale before we moved in… and we were going to have a contract for deed on the home, but found out there were too many problems with the house that it was not worth it to go into cfd so just rented it out…I don’t know… They were trying to buy the house accross the street but the owner’s didn’t let them… 🤷

To my mind, it’s not worth the aggravation to be the middle man between your landlord and this congregation.

And double-check your local laws. Even if it’s not stated in the lease, I’m pretty sure your landlord is responsible for ridding you of any pests such as roaches and mice that are trying to share your residence. The city should have gone to him, and that’s where you should have driected the man from the city.
According to the city it is the tenant’s responsibility… I did speak with my landlord and he said that he did have exterminator’s in before we moved in, because of the previous tenants… BUT I didn’t know that when I first moved in… And it wasn’t until now that I started seeing them so it’s like OK where did they come from??? My boyfriend’s father was an exterminator many years ago, and he let me know that if anyone around the neighborhood has them, or since we live near a factory, or public places, like the restaurants on the other block, that eventually their rodents will come to the area, and they do thrive out in the fields as well… And we are close enough for city and country living all at the same time… I just didn’t think it would be a problem to the city since most of the people I know have to deal with them and have tried everything to get rid of rodents… My boyfriend’s parents don’t have roaches, but they seem to be having some issues with mice and fleas and this that they live way out in the country, but they do have pets, and their pets sneak out on them all the time…

I dunno, I will definitely be moving closer to the country so I don’t bother anyone…

This is a very good point. They may want the property. They also may be doing this because they found out you are Catholic. Lots of Catholic persecution out there. God Bless.

After reading over (OK, partly reading, partly skimming) this thread, the church look ve-e-e-ry suspicious to me. The red flag popped up as soon as I read that its pastor knew you & knew that you were not a candidate for membership in his flock.

Another red flag popped up when I saw that this church had tried to buy the property across the street from you.

Put it together, and you make just too tempting a target, apparently.

OK, I shouldn’t pass rash judgment on this guy, and maybe I’m reading him wrong, and I know I’m only hearing one side of it. Nevertheless, an isolated congregation that has services almost daily that last a full day and half the night doesn’t look like a healthy situation. Maybe it’s just fine and these folks are all on fire for the Spirit, but it’s a setting with way too much Jim-Jones-ish potential IMO. There was a ghastly example of that not 100 miles from where I live, just within the last couple of years. You do NOT want to know what or how the “Hosanna” “church” really worshipped. Trust me.

Mind you, I’m definitely NOT saying or implying that your neighboring congregation is evil the way the “Hosanna” one was!

I’m only saying that the accessible-but-a-tad-isolated setting of this church, combined with its status as a solo operation unaffiliated with any larger community, places it at risk IMO for becoming a cult of personality, for good or for ill. If the pastor is humble and tries to be a good Christian and all that, the isolation might not do any more harm than being cut off from the Magisterium does to any of our separated brethren. Not having any other coreligionists to be accountable to in any way at all removes the safety net so that if their pastor succumbs to the temptations or stresses of leadership and starts to go 'round the twist, he can take them all with him.

OK, it’s late, and I don’t seem to be coherent. Sorry…:o

Guess I’m just trying to say that it sounds as though their harrassment isn’t about what they’re complaining about; it seems to be about either property or religious intolerance.

I’d want to look it up to make sure, but I think that St. Bernard is a patron saint for combating evil influences. If it is the case that the pastor is influencing his congregation against you in some way, perhaps calling upon St. Bernard for intercession would be something to help, as would Our Lady of Good Counsel to help you discern what to do. Keep your chin up and your eyes open, and pray like crazy!

It’s crazy, I don’t really want to think that way, I mean they all look like they would be really nice people to talk to etc… I mean I didn’t have any problems with them when I first moved in…And I have been there for nearly 2 years… 😦 It’s just weird… Thank you for the advice… I will def keep everything in mind…

Not to be the bad guy but I have to agree with the church goers about the dogs. I LOVE dogs and I have a big dog but I have no patience for “untrained” dogs. You say your Rot is a trained guard dog. Well, that in itself is a HUGE liability. Typical guard dog training teaches the dog to protect the house at any cost. Training a dog to be a “guard” dog (if it was professionally trained), especially a Rot, is like leaving a loaded gun lying on the table. And training them to be a “guard” dog is not necessary. Any dog who is loved and well taken care of will protect their pack (aka family). It’s in their nature to do so.

And about the barking: believe it or not, the barking CAN be controlled. You can teach your dog to be quiet on command. You can also teach them to bark on command. It takes work and consistancy but it can be done.

That being said, if I saw a big Rott sitting on a porch with no fencing barking threatenly at me I would be scared too. I love dogs, especially big dogs but not mean dogs and from your description of the situation, your dog comes across as a mean to the church folks. How can they trust the dog won’t come after them? The dog might be tied up but just seeing a dog like that barking that much and not being in a fence is pretty scary. You dog might be nice but they don’t know that and seeing the attitude of the dog there is no way they would know it’s a nice dog.

I always take my dogs through formal obedience training and I even show in obedience and my dogs have some titles. I don’t send them off to be trained, I do the training. (I an NOT a professional trainer, I just like to do this). I think this is very important to have control over your dog.

My point is that I totally side with the church goers about your dogs. You really need to get their barking under control so they aren’t so threatening. And you need to make sure your insurance is paid in full in case one of your dogs decides to bite. You say they are sweet and would never hurt anyone but dogs are still animals and they can do something unexpectedly. Also, you said yourself that this Rott is trained to be a guard dog. I am not sure if you realize it but dogs tend to react to how their owners are feeling. So, since you dont’ like these chruch people, if the dog happens to react to your feelings at the wrong time, the “guard” dog part of him might come out and he will act accordingly if he feels you are threatened.

I just want to warn you, be very careful about how your dogs act towards these people or any people for that matter.

Yes I understand…Been an owner of dogs for many years…Never had any problems, I know never say never and there is always a first time for everything…and maybe this is that first time. And this is my first generation of rotts but my db’s 5th generation… His family has been breeding and training Rotts since his great grandfather, and he has helped me so much with both dogs… He is affiliated with a dog police trainer and they both used to work to train rotts, dobies, and shepherds…Right now he’s helping me train the puppy we are holding for a family that wants him…

And about the barking: believe it or not, the barking CAN be controlled. You can teach your dog to be quiet on command. You can also teach them to bark on command. It takes work and consistancy but it can be done.

I definitely understand, but please let me add that even though my dogs bark like I said they have never barked longer than several minutes, it’s not that they bark all day long, they bark at strangers, and it’s usually to warn us and them that they are around…not to be annoyingly barking for hours…that I do not tolerate, I have owned dogs since I could remember, since my parents owned them, and we have never had dogs that barked, otherwise I would never have a dog!!! My sister has a dog, he’s a miniature poodle and you can not be in the same room as that dog…it’s a nonstop barking that has gone on past 30 mintes on a daily basis… Now that my mom has the dog he’s starting to be trained properly and has toned it down, but he’s a work in progress…

Yes and I am sorry but that kind of is the point, before we had breakins in the ghetto and it was no fun… the cops were at my house so much because I was terrified and thank GOD since I got my rott I haven’t had the need to call them…And the fact that I moved to a better area helps too, and I have moved her from the front porch to the back of the house…as they have told me to do, but that’s still not good enough…

I am sorry but I never said I didn’t like the church people, I stated that I didn’t know why they were the way they were with me but I never said I didn’t like them… I didn’t choose not to be able to really speak with them or communicate with them, they chose that for themselves… Perhaps my b started it by being a little too honest and “rude” with the Pastor telling him what he did, but we have never said anything to them at all that would cause problems…AND like I said it just started recently… I think they were expecting us to move since my lease is up every 6 months, I guess maybe that’s what they were waiting for and it’s been almost 2 years… 😦 And yes she will attack if someone comes near the house with a threatening attitude, but only when the person attacks first…that’s what she was trained to do…So she knows to study the situation and then she enforces herself… Thanks for the insurance advise, I do keep up with it all the time!!!

I just want to warn you, be very careful about how your dogs act towards these people or any people for that matter.
No one else has problems in our neighborhood with my dogs, just they do… i mean all of the neighbors let their dogs run around, seriously, my next door neighbors lab always comes and does her business in my yard on a daily basis and plays with my dogs, like I said I keep my dogs tied up, not running around freely… I am trying to be more careful and that’s why I don’t leave my dogs out all day long…not any more.
