Understand though, the bible is not all inclusive to the faith, it came “from” it, not the other way around, the is the fundamental difference between Catholic and Protestant perspective.

Isn’t there a lot of confusion when everything is made up of symbols and there is no way of knowing what anything means? God is not the author of confusion. Babylon means confusion. This is a good way for people to guess and give their own interpretation of scripture, which is very dangerous. You start to hear/read things like “I think this means”, “it could mean”, “or maybe this”

Because people are deep thinkers and we are created in the image of God. Everyone is in a different place and has a wide range of understanding levels. There is something for everyone in a Mass, and in the Catholic Church.

You are SO right in saying that when people guess and give their own interpretations of Scripture, it is dangerous. That is why we have a Magisterium.

I think mathematics is much more symbolic and most symbols have just one meaning. I’ve never seen seven, just symbols of it. What a wonderful world we live in due to mathematics. I know my wife would be very upset if I took this symbol off my finger and threw it away.
 
You don’t understand Catholic theology, so you’ve determined that there is a problem with the theology. But how much do your really (being honest with yourself) know about Christianity - history, ancient languages, writing styles use, the symbolism used in those writings in those times in those places? Could you commit to studying Catholicism for 5 minutes a day? If you do, before you know it the things that you think are confusing now will make perfect sense, and will bring you to a much clearer understanding of your Christian faith. The “confusing” things will become clear to you, and you will be surprised by what you learn about some (maybe many) of the things that you think you understand clearly now.

If you can give us just one example, we can help you with it. We really can’t go through the forum and find what it is you’re talking about. First, we don’t know exactly what you’re talking about, and second, there are far too many threads and posts to read through.

We’re willing to post the information you’re looking for, just let us know what it is. 🙂

This reply of yours gives us a clear picture of how you approach things. Make a silly claim, one based on your preconceptions, and then refuse to back up that claim. Very sad. 😦

Symbols and their meaning are clear to anyone who studies the scriptures and Catholicism. It is not some “hidden agenda” that the Church has. If you want to know what a given symbol stands for, study it. It really is not to hard. 🤷 BTW…not “everything” is symbolic, so your main assertion is false.

Oh yea, what do you think of John 6? Is it truly Christ’s flesh that was to be eaten? :eek:
