Hello,

My sister told me that her friend at work in school has Wiccan friends. Her friend was gothic in school and she wears a ring (with wiccan symbol) she got from her wiccan friend who died because of brain tumor. My sister is non-practicing Catholic. The problem is that my sister has to work with her friend at school; they were assigned to work together till the end of the year. My sister thinks there is no problem hanging out with her which is bad. I gave her st. Michael prayers and st. Benedict Medal. Do you think that her friend can have bad influence on her like cursing her? I’m not sure how to help my sister since she think there is nothing wrong with her friend. I told my sister that she needs to stay away from her. Any advice is appreciated. I’m hoping that God is using this situation to bring my sister back to Him, that is my guess.

Thank you

I highly doubt that your sister’s Wiccan friend will curse your sister. If the friend is actually Wiccan, cursing is not part of the religion.

You should try to help your sister to come back home to the Catholic Church. Pray for her of course, and give her material to help her understand why she is non-practicing. Maybe have her look at this website:

There isn’t anything necessarily wrong with your sister hanging out with this friend, though of course it would be nice if she was strong in her own Faith. Remember, wearing medals don’t doesn’t do anything unless we actually believe. They aren’t magic amulets.

Your sister was assigned to work with her so she should do so. It doesn’t sound like she’s being a terribly negative influence on her. If they go out and start experimenting with psychedelic drugs together, then you should worry. But really, they’re just working together. I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone who hasn’t collaborated with someone of a differing belief system in an education or work setting.

A five pointed star, then? A Pentangle. Wiccans use it, but it’s also a Christian symbol used to represent the five sorrows of Mary. As for your situation… I can only suggest prayer. If she is a Wiccan, she won’t try and curse anyone. Don’t be overly hostile, but don’t be too welcoming, either. Keep in mind that even if she were to try and ‘curse’ you, she has no power, and if anything at all were to result from it it would be Satan’s doing. No force raised against Christ shall prosper, so do not fear, and have faith.
While it is very important to pray, you should also speak with your sister and discuss Catholicism, praying that God will guide your words and change her heart.

I was once in involved in Wicca. As others have said, Wiccans do not “curse” others. They work “magick” for positive results. And yes, the five pointed star can mean the Five Sorrows of Mary or the Five Wounds of Christ.

Kindly remind your sister not to get involved in Wicca.

Please pray for your sister and her friend.
