Why do you think it’s nice?
Because they worship primary Gods too…Father God Sky, Mother Earth Goddess…and today, there exists the NEED within ALL LIFE for the LOVE, CARE, NURTURE of the only EARTH we will ever have…someone has to be morally responsible for NATURES ELEMENTS…

That’s not the response I was looking for. I specifically asked the poster for his opinion why it was nice, because he, himself, seems to post only to ‘agitate’. I don’t know a lot about buddhists, but from what I’ve seen on these forums, I had a wrong impression of them.

As for your response, I only believe in one God and there are no others. God gave man dominion over the earth, it’s our responsibility.

Gen 1:26 And he said: Let us make man to our image and likeness: and let him have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts, and the whole earth, and every creeping creature that moveth upon the earth.

I think it’s nice, too. Why? Well, because Catholics and Protestants have a place to pray. Jews have a place to pray. Buddhists and Muslims have a place to pray. So, it seems nice that others now have a place to pray, too. Also, I think religious tolerance is something worth promoting among our future military leaders. There must be a demand for such a space at the Academy, so it’s nice that such a demand could be met.

I think it’s good that they can now practice their faith somewhere without disturbance. I love to see the religious diversity in the military. Heck, I know a guy who considers himself an ‘Atheist in Foxholes.’ He’s in the UAE now, though.

I am sorry if I have offended or agitated you. To offend or agitate is not a goal of mine. I merely wish to discuss religious topics.

“That’s nice” was my reaction as well, actually. I don’t particularly care about religious diversity, but I do think people should have the freedom to worship as they wish. All must find the Truth for themselves (don’t get me wrong though, I don’t believe in multiple truths).

That’s what I meant when I was speaking of religious diversity. You articulated what I was thinking better than I could.

I too can understand why they would want:
(a) a fixed space, rather than moving from one room to another all the time
(b) their own space, without emblems of other religions, for example.

As an undergrad, I went to a university that had a very large Baptist church on the premises, which other religious groups were allowed to use. But I really appreciated the fact that they had also allowed the creation of a small Catholic chapel on campus for the Catholic students, with a crucifix, altar, tabernacle and everything. Sure, we could have had Mass elsewhere, but it was nice to have our own space.

Wow, my university just has three rooms everyone has to share. One of them being quite tiny.

Read article earlier, what a Politically correct, anti-religious, secular slap in the face to those of us who have risen above mere superstition.

I guess next we can expect to see Rastafarians & Gov’t approved Ganga at the academies. Followed soon thereafter by the VooDoo worshipers & the gift shop where you can rent a Zombie or Buy a freshly killed chicken for shaking at someone.

This sad obsession with tolerance for all things or anything continues to cause vast damage in the Moral & Ethical fiber of the world.

😛 I have to laugh. This is probably very similar to how the Romans felt when all those Christians started showing up with their fish emblems, stories of resurrection from the dead, wine and bread mysticism and all that other strange eastern religious stuff. What’s wrong with good ole Jupiter, Mars, and the rest of the Roman pantheon?

Don’t forget the persistent rumors of cannibalism, incest, treasonous refusal to revere the emperor, etc.

There are Pagan/Wiccan members of the armed forces. Why should they be denied a space to conduct whatever religious rites they wish to engage in?

In a nation of religious freedome and tolerance…or one that claims to be…it is a good thing. I was also pleased that the pentagram is now allowed to be placed on the tombstones of the men and women of the armed forces who are Pagan.

I happen to think the idea of Zombie rental would be pretty cool. If you get enough of them, you could have your own Thriller video.

Well, this was a misleadingly titled post.

However, it is nice to see religious tolerance. We’re finally stepping in the right direction.

The best place to pray is at the feet of Jesus.
