Wife is pregnant, baby name thoughts?

I posted a few months ago about should my wife and I have another baby. I am happy to report that my wife is 2 months pregnant. We are truly blessed by the grace of God. We are not telling our family or our 5 year old daughter until Christmas day. We have been throwing out ideas on baby names and I wanted to get a few thoughts. Our daughter is named Eleanor Therese.

Girl:
Jacinta
Matilda
Clare
Beatrice

Boys:
Sebastian
Xavier
Maximilian
 
I am biased on the girls name, but I love Matilda and Beatrice. those are the names of my twin nieces 😛

The boys names I like Xavier and Sebastian, in that order 🙂

Congratulations!

I’m not crazy about Jacinta, but I like all the others. Take our opinions with a grain of salt, though; you’ll always find someone who loves and someone who hates your name choice.
 
I LOVE Sebastian and Max (so much so that we have one of each!!!) I have 7 kids and of the 7, these are my 2 favorite!! I wasn’t real sure about Maximillion even though my son’s birthday is his feast day - August 14- so we went with Maxon (pronounced like Jackson but he goes by Max anyways)

Sebastian goes by Seb or Sebbie most of the time. I love both names. Both of them are unique yet still traditional. I also like one syllable nicknames for boys - sounds more masculine to me!!

and Xavier.
FYI: Sebastian is the most commonly chosen Confirmation name by boys in my area.
 
I love the name Clare out of those and I totally vote for Sebastian. Hubby and I talked about baby names when we first married, Sebastian is number one on our boy list.

I am going to give it to you strait because that is what I would want.

Jacinta. That is a bad bad name. I don’t like it. Not only is it hard to figure out but it just is a mouthful. Like a big piece of meat stuck in my mouth…
(apologies to all Jacintas or la-as out there.) 😉

Matilda. I like it in that it is a older throwback name. But I still imagine either a bad movie with Danny Devito or a really old librarian.
Clare. I like it. We have a child named something close to that. But can I suggest Chiara instead? Still, it is a nice name.

Beatrice. I do not like that name but absolutely LOVE Beatrix.(this is the number two name on our list for our girl to be born in February. I will list number one at the bottom.) Whenever I see Beatrice, I just think beat rice. 🤷

Sebastian. I don’t like it. And cannot type why because of forum rules. But I don’t like it.

Xavier. Love it! This is one of our top names for boys as well.

Maximillian. Cool. It is one of those names I like. But I would not personally choose.

What follows is my personal uninformed opinion. That and two quarters will get you 50c. 👍

Anyway…
I like Jacinta (I believe it’s a variant of “Hyacinthe”, no?). The others seem a bit too old-fashioned to me. Matilda always conjures up “Waltzing Matilda”, and Beatrice always reminds me of Beatrice Arthur.

As for the boys’ names: I like all 3, hard to say which one edges out the others. I never knew anyone named Maximilian, but I knew a fellow whose middle name was Xavier, his nickname was “X”, and I knew a Sebastian, his nickname was “Baz”.

Overall, though, I think the name “John” has a nice cachet to it… 😃
 
I like Coleen/Kathleen and Rose/Rosie for a girl.

I also like Maximus/Maximilian for a boy. What a Latin name (though they all are)! 👍
 
I vote for Clare and Max.

And then daylight to the rest (sorry).

The name Sebastian makes me think of that dorky kid in the Never Ending Story.

Thank you for all the great responses. My wife really likes Beatrix. We’re looking for a classic Saints name. Any suggestions are appreciated. My wife likes Sebastian for a boys name, but she is worried there is no nickname. Last time if we had a boy instead of a girl we were going to use the name Xavier Paul.

For boys, how about Francis (Fran, Frank) or James? :cool:

The only child I knew that is named Beatrix is called “BIX” by everyone. 😦

I would caution against naming a child anything that can be ridiculed, not matter how worthy the Saint. I worked in a Catholic school, and kids can be brutal.
Paul is a lovely name. Xavier would be good as the middle name, since it would always remain intact.
 
My favorite little girl’s name is Clare. (I am biased because my daughter is Clare…spelled that way). Love it. (She will be one 12/23).

I like all your boy name choices, especially Sebastian. I love Sebby. My husband doesn’t, though!
