Then why do we inherit Original Sin?

Edit: and concupiscence . I was asking how I should interpret that passage since I am doing incorrectly.
Beats me. 🤷 But Original Sin needn’t be something that is a physical punishment. In other words, it’s not as if people who are not Baptized will face a physical malady because of it.

Everyone who has original sin or took it away by baptism has the effects of it. We have concupiscence, we die, we get sick, etc.

Before the fall stuff like illnesses did not occur. And when you get rid of it you still have the effects of it.

cena;12592286Just because he can overrule her does not mean he should completely ignore her opinion and overrule her decision on everything. [/QUOTE said:
But this is the very essence of the potential cause for abuse. If he actually believes he has the “right” to overrule her, there is a dangerous imbalance in the relationship. I know that for us, and for our children, it is important that they understand that nobody has the ‘right’ of final say in a relationship – it’s a partnership.

Yes. And the combination of a belief in their belief in his right to overrule her, plus her total economic dependence on him (if she is an SAHM or if they have 3+ children), is a very dangerous one.

It puts a couple uncomfortably close to abuse. And the sad thing is, the husband might not even realize that he was being abusive. He might believe that he is being loving and giving and protective while committing objectively abusive acts.

Depends on the situation if what he is doing is immoral than he has no right to do that

Here’s a long list of abusive behaviors:

It’s a good marital examination of conscience, particularly for people with strong views on submission.
I never said he can control what hair style she has or anything like that.

He can’t force her without her consent to have sexual relations that’s rape.

He should include her in decision making too.

They both have to submit and serve, the wife submits more.

**That makes it sound as if somehow the decisions are his to make, and he could choose not to include her. That’s the part that is wrong – she is not a child in the house – she is an adult who is an equal partner. **

They both have to submit and serve, the wife submits more.
How do you define “submits more” ?

I already said she does not submit as much as a child submits to his father.

I am not trying to say that their relationship should 90% his authority and 10% hers.
It should be like 55% him and 45% her. They have complementary roles, his is more leadership.

Are you married? If so, you should know by now that a marriage needs to be 100% each way, not some mathematical division giving the husband a few percent more for some absurd veto power. This train wreck of a thread needs to be closed. The OP deserted it a week ago without so much as a reply and this topic has been discussed ad nauseum and it never goes anywhere.

Those here who are insisting on wifely submission have been asked several times to share how that works in their marriage, but so far, they have been silent with that request.

Seems to me like there is a lot of baiting and trolling here…

Below is Pope Benedict XVI – speaking about the abuse of “cultures” where women are subordinated to men. We don’t have to look far – for it can be seen-- that such a “culture” exist – right here within our own ranks.
MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS
POPE BENEDICT XVI
FOR THE CELEBRATION OF THE
WORLD DAY OF PEACE
1 JANUARY 2007
  1. Similarly, inadequate consideration for the condition of women helps to create instability in the fabric of society. I think of the exploitation of women who are treated as objects, and of the many ways that a lack of respect is shown for their dignity;** I also think —in a different context—of the mindset persisting in some cultures, where women are still firmly subordinated to the arbitrary decisions of men, with grave consequences for their personal dignity and for the exercise of their fundamental freedoms**. There can be no illusion of a secure peace until these forms of discrimination are also overcome, since they injure the personal dignity impressed by the Creator upon every human being.

In those cultures women get stoned for being raped and men follow them wherever they go. That was not what I suggested at all. Wives should not unconditionally be at the mercy of their husbands.

The message Pope Benedict is brings across – is that the act itself – of women made subordinate – is an abuse/ an assault to women’s personal dignity and the exercise personal freedoms. The abuse – the assualt – against women – is the subordination itself.

firmly subordinated to the arbitrary decisions of men

arbitrary: not restrained or limited in the exercise of power : ruling by absolute authority

I never said it should be unlimited.

As long as you give men the upper hand – in any way/form – the power is still his – and the women are indeed in servitude.

I’d say 55% the husband – 45% to the wife — is an example of an arbitrary decision on your part.

In previous posts I said his power is not unlimited he can’t be abusive, make immoral decisions, etc.

No one whether it’s your religious superior, your dad, your husband, etc. can order to you to commit a sin and you would be expected to carry it out.

That % difference you give to men – is still power over women – rooted in “pride”. The root of each and every offense against girls/women.

It isn’t pride men are the natural leaders. Girls have natural good qualities that men don’t…

Just the fact that you refer to males as “men” and females as “girls” speaks volumes about your condescending opinion of women and your agenda on several threads you are currently participating on here at CAF…

Leadership skills are learned and then honed throughout life, not something one is born with simply because they have a specific set of chromosomes and male reproductive organs.

It is “pride” to discount one sex – as not having the ability to lead.
