I am a Catholic and a single parent (never been married) and would like to have my child baptized and raised as a Catholic. Some priests are willing to perform the baptism while others aren’t. Is there a rule or guideline for such cases?

As long as you are a Catholic who is willing to raise the child Catholic, and so long as the child’s father either doesn’t object or isn’t in a position to object (e.g., he is not in the child’s life), then the child certainly can be baptized. If your local parish is unwilling to perform the baptism, call your diocese and ask for a referral to a priest or deacon who will.
