Will I obtain more graces from making my own prayers?

I find that maybe making my own prayers might be a way to separate myself from the others, to be different from the rest.

It seems like reiterating Hail Mary’s and the such would get pretty boring to Mary and the saints, too.

Is there a way I can make myself more special and righteous to God, the saints, and my guardian angels’ ‘eyes’?

The Bible gives us the Our Father and the Hail Mary so they come straight from God and cannot be boring or unpleasing to Him or the saints.

I think that doing both the traditional prayers and self composed prayers is the best.

Composing your own prayers can be pleasing to Our Lord, Our Lady, and the saints, it could even be a from of prayer if you offer it up to God. Remember though, we can please God when we strive to do His will and seek to grow in virtue, ecspecially the virtue of humility.

May God Bless you

Love God and Love neighbor…that is the key to holiness.

If that means saying your own prayers please do so. As Catholics we should do more of that.

While composing your own prayers is admirable, the reason you give…

… on the other hand, doesn’t seem like a spiritually healthy or morally good reason to do it.

Avoid sin and do good and strive each day to grow in virtue; pray zealously and often and make everything you do a sacrifice; obey the commandments of Jesus Christ and His Church … and you will be righteous in the eyes of God and His saints. The Blessed Mother told St. Mechtilde that she experiences the most joy when we pray the Ave Maria to her, so please don’t think that any prayer of yours to Mary would be better than the Hail Mary – pray both the Hail Mary and your own made up prayers. Jesus (Almighty God) made up the Our Father, the perfect prayer; so please don’t think that any prayer you make up could be better than His – pray both the Our Father and your own made up prayers. The Our Father and Hail Mary are very important prayers that should be prayed by everybody. God bless you.

What you seek is a form of pride, which will give us the opposite of grace. God stoops down to the lowly and rejects the prideful.

There are many people that pray on the forum, and are truly blessed with articulating informal prayers, however, I am not so great at it.So I stick mostly with formal prayers here. In private, I pray informally, as God knows what I mean. I believe God is happy with all prayer.

The important thing is to pray.
