Will my baptism count?

Well then they are both sinning…and they both should go and speak with their priest who would be the one to guide them in the direction that they need to go to rectify this situation!

The other point regarding the method of Baptism here is that many Catholic parishes these days have a Baptismal pool. The candidates do get immersed. 🙂

A friend of mine converted to Catholicism several years ago. He had no religion prior to that and had never been baptized. His parish has a baptismal pool, which a lot of the newer Catholic Churches have. He understood that sprinkling or immersion is equally valid, but he chose to be baptized by immersion just because that’s how Jesus got baptized and that’s how Philip baptized the Ethiopian.

By the way, it would be “catechumens”, not “candidates” who get baptized.

Also, Ezekeel 36:25a says, “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean.” Your baptizm will count. I didn’t think sprinkling was a valid form of baptism.

I’ll check canon law and post something later.
 
Can. 854 Baptism is to be conferred either by immersion or by pouring, in accordance with the provisions of the Episcopal Conference.

Sprinkling is not mentioned by canon law…
