I am in RCIA now and before you know it will take communion. Here’s the thing I am married and we got married by the Justice of the Peace in 07. This is when my husband and I were both raging atheists. Now we are both Christians but hubby is not taking the step to Catholicism with me. This is our first marriage. Neither of us had to be previously divorced. So that’s the good thing.
Thing is my priest said “Once you take communion at the Easter Vigil your marriage is officially sacramental”
But Catholic friends of mine are telling me that is in no way how a marriage is blessed and he is mistaken about that concept. The marriage has to be blessed kind of on its own after the priest talks to us for a bit about different matters such as faith children etc.
But the priest said once I take the Eucharist at Easter all is said and done and I will not need my marriage blessed in any special manner.
Can I get some feedback please? Should I consult a second priest?
