Dear Forum,🙂

While reading this new book, (“John Paul II, the Pope Who Understood Fatima”), I also found a very facinating fact… I wish to share it for your information:

**"An often-overlooked historical fact of Fátima is the announcement of Our Lady’s seventh coming: “Afterwards I shall still return here a seventh time.” ("Despois voltarei ainda aqui uma setima vez.”) During 1917, Our Lady publicly appeared to the children six times, from May 13th to October 13th. During her first visit, Our Lady said to Lucia: “I want you to come here for six consecutive months, on the thirteenth day at the same time. Afterwards I shall still return here a seventh time.” Curiously, this phrase was not included in the earlier reports about the events because it was only revealed by Sister Lucia in obedience to the bishop, in her fourth written memoir.

A key term in Our Lady’s announcement is the word “here”. Many have interpreted Our Lady’s seventh visit as being the one that took place on December 10th of 1925, when Our Lady appeared to sister Lucia and asked for the sacramental reparation of Confession and Holy Communion on First Saturdays. That, however, took place in the convent of Pontevedra, Spain, not in Fátima. Others hold that it was Our Lady’s apparition of June 13th, 1929, to Sister Lucia in which she asked the Pope and bishops of the world for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart. Again, this took place in the Dorothean Convent of Tuy, a Spanish town on the border with Portugal. Neither of these apparitions seem to fulfill Our Lady’s statement, *“I shall still return here,” *which implies a return to the Cove in Fátima.

A footnote added to “Sister Lucia’s Memoirs” suggests that this predicted Seventh time might have taken place on the morning of June 16th, 1921, when Sister Lucia went back to the Cove to bid farewell to Fátima in her way to the convent. This would have been one more of the many personal visits of Our Lady to Sister Lucia. However, this theory seems contradicted by Sister’s Lucia’s words in her manuscripts from her Spanish convent. “After six years of real trial (since 1917) it was on this day, August 26, 1923, that the Virgin Mary first visited me again.” According to this, Our Lady did not appear to her at the Cove in 1921. As to whether the seventh apparition at the Cove foretold by Our Lady took place during Sister Lucia’s lifetime or not, she never announced it. One can only wonder, why did Our Lady prophesy this seventh apparition so solemnly?.. Although the faithful have always assumed that Our Lady meant a seventh apparition to Sister Lucia, Our Lady’s actual words, “I shall return here”, never specified that such a visit would be a personal apparition to Sister Lucia. This prophesied “Seventh visit” continues to remain in the amazing mystery of Fátima." **

I guess there are still so many things about Fatima that continue to be a mystery to us.

I pray this helps

“Afterwards I shall still return here a seventh time.” ("Despois voltarei ainda aqui uma setima vez.”)

I’m not well educated enough to parrse or interpret the lingo (Portuguese? Spanish?) you posted. But see, that’s the thing that gets me: “here” does not say Fatima proper. “Here” could simply be “on Earth.”
:hmmm:

Thank you for your response.

You are right! and if she simply meant “to earth” that could imply any of her innummerable apparitions all over the earth: Japan, Kibeho, etc. Yet, she told the three children, "I shal return here a seventh time." what the author is asking is: “Why did Our Lady prophesy this seventh apparition so solemnly?” Then he suggests “This prophesied “Seventh visit” continues to remain in the amazing mystery of Fátima.”

But if it referred to any other of her apparitions, what has separated that apparition from the next, which presumably was not prophesied as the “eighth visit”?

I have read that Lucia had several more visions of Our Lady, much after… the “6th Vision” of Fatima (October 13, 1917 - Miracle of the Sun).

Could it be that the “7th Vision” of Fatima… was in reference to one of these? 🤷

Spirithound,

Very good question!🙂 I guess the only thing that would single out this *“seventh apparition” *would be the word *“aqui” *= “here”. Our Lady knows that she is doing whe She chooses her words. She knows she is speaking prophetically.

Most other apparitions to Sister Lucia took place outside of Fatima and even outside of Portugal. Her first Dorothean convent in Tui was in Spain, her next Dorothean convent in Pontevedra and her Carmelite convent was in northern Portuguese city of Coimbra.

Our Lady announced to the 3 children on the first apparition of May 13, 1917, that she would return “here” referring to the Cova de Iria in Fatima. She never announced it as a seventh personal visit to Lucia or to her cousins, especially because Our Lady knew that Jacinta and Francisco would be already in Heaven. Thus such apparition did not necessarily involved them.

I pray this makes sense:)

Hi again,

I recently read in another forum a reference to an article regarding two important interviews with Sr. Lucia of Fatima (in 1993 to Cardinal Ricardo Vidal of the Philippines and with late John Haffert, co-founder of the World Apostolate of Fatima, the “Blue Army,” on May 31, 1999) where the last Fatima seer explicitly states that we are presently in the "Third Day" of the "Seven Day Week" of Fatima.

According to the article Sister Lucia revealed to the Cardinal:
“People expect things to happen immediately within their own time frame. But Fatima is still in its Third Day. The Triumph is an ongoing process.”
Now, repeating herself, she said: “Fatima is still in its Third Day. We are now in the post Consecration period. The First Day was the apparition period. The Second Daywas the post apparition, pre-Consecration period. The Fatima Week has not yet ended.”
“I may not get to see the whole Week…”
Then she repeated: “The Fatima Week has just begun. How can one expect it to be over immediately?”…
Sister Lucia explained that the collegial Consecration made on March 25, 1984, was accepted by God. She said that the “conversion” of Russia, which meant the granting of freedom of religion in that country, was brought about by God and brought us into the “Third Day.”
"We presume the Seventh Day will be the “Era of Peace” promised by Our Lady in the words: "Finally my Immaculate Heart will Triumph, and an Era of Peace will be granted to mankind.
“What will the Fourth Day bring? And the Fifth and Sixth? Could the Fourth be the time of the warning and purification? The Fifth the time of the Remnant (pre-Triumph)? The Sixth the time of the Triumph leading into the Era of Peace? Even more important: What is expected of us now, in this Third Day?”
Full article:here motherofallpeoples.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=227

A question came up to my mind: ***'Seventh visit" … “Seventh Day of Fatima” *** Could they be connected? The Fatima Message announces the Triumph of the immaculate Heart of Mary. Could the mission and fulfillment of the Message of Fatima be still ahead?

Just pondering.

Many people have suggested that, at one time or another… Or that Our Lady appeared to her when she was first leaving Fatima for the convent in 1921. But according to the new book, “John Paul II, The Pope Who Understood Fatima”:
**This theory seems contradicted by Sister’s Lucia’s words in her manuscripts from her Spanish convent. *“After six years of real trial (since 1917) it was on this day, August 26, 1923, that the Virgin Mary first visited me again.” ***According to this, Our Lady did not appear to her at the Cove in 1921.
And according to the book, all the other visits from Our Lady took place away from Fatima, at her convent in Spain or at her Carmelite convent in Coimbra in the north of Portugal. I guess it remains a mystery, huh?

Thanks for responding.

Another interesting point. During her first visit of May 13th 1917, Our Lady said to Lucia: *“I want you to come here for **six ***consecutive months, on the thirteenth day at the same time. Afterwards I shall still return here a seventh time"

In the past it was assumed that Our Lady was merely announcing a seventh personal visit to the children… yet She only invited them to come to the Cove six times, while announcing seven visits! This leads many to believe that Our Lady’s announced seventh visit to Fatima could still take place in the future completing the great mystery of Fatima

Edward Henry,
It has been a long time since I studied Fatima. I have always tried to heed her words rather than get too involved with the more arcane aspects of her apparition. I’m sure you know that as a private revelation, there are aspects of her words that are open to interpretation. Lucia had hear our Lady correctly, and understand her correctly inorder for the message to be understood. Following that lucia would have had to diliver the recieved message correctly as well. This leaves many places where the message could have been mishandled somehow. This Seventh visit that you are spealing of could be an example of this. I’m not saying it is, just that it could be. The fact that there is some question about what our Lady meant, is evidence that this could be a problem of interpretation.

Thanks for sharing that quote regarding the Fatima “week” though. I’ve never heard that before, and it is very interesting. I know other apparitions claim to have our Lady showing up in the future. Garabandal, Akita, and the one from France in the 1870’s all seem to share some similar details, as well as dovetail with what our Lady said in Fatima. I guess for me, it has been most difficult to heed the message and actualy “Pray, pray, pray”. As I’ve slowly in my life gotten to the point of doing her words I seem to have lost much interest in the apparition itself. Perhaps that is as it should be though. She leads us to Him and in Him there is no fear.

Just my two cents Thanks for sharing.
Peace,
Tom

Thank you for you sincere response. I believe that you are not alone in this. Many devotees have lost interest in the apparition itself. However the last three Popes continue to attempt to redirect our attention back to the Fatima message. I guess they believe that there is something that we can still extract from Our Lady’s words.

Pope Benedict XVI after his recent vist to Fatima expressed:*** “We would be mistaken to think that Fatima’s prophetic mission is complete,”***

Rest of the story here: Pope says Mary’s message at Fatima still important for humanity

Edward Henry,
I do not doubt that the message of Fatima is prophetic and for our times. Perhaps even for all times. The link to the cns story was a good read. Thanks for sharing that. I should say that back about 15-20 years ago, I really got twisted around the axles with Marian messages. I was immature and had an inordinate interest and was improperly absorbed by the prophetic nature of many of the messages. I realized that I needed to moderate my interests and have spent a lot of time coming down off that mountain. I love the Blessed Mother very much and want to please her. She has helped me return to the one, true Church through her intercession. I now pray the rosary almost every day and and have a more mature appreciation of the messages. The inner conversion is only accomplished through God’s grace and much prayer. This is a process that for me has taken a long time. And is still ongoing.

Thanks again for sharing that link.
Peace,
Tom

Many more unnamed people believe that the seventh visit came and went already. 🤷

.

Pope Benedict has commented extensively on the topic of Fatima and the its Miracles.

Fatimas message’s and mission is not over, because the need for penace and converstion in the world continues. Pope Benedict gave thanks for the spiritual movement set in motion by the events of Fatima which has throughout the globe. And Pope Benedict looked ahead to 2017. When the World will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the apparitions and miracles of 1917.

Stylites,
Many more unnamed people believe that the seventh visit came and went already.🤷
You are correct. Many have believed so. They have believed that Our Lady appeared in 1921 to Sister Lucia as she was bidding farewell to Fatima in her way to the convent.

Until the recent publishing of Sister Lucia’s private letters collected by Portuguese priest *Fr. Antonio Martins *in which she writes in one of her letters from Vilar, Portugal: “After six years of real trial (since 1917) it was on this day, August 26, 1923, that the Virgin Mary first visited me again.”

So, if Our Lady did not return to Fatima in 1921 for her Seventh Visit, then that seventh visit continues to remain in the amazing Mystery of Fatima . Sister Lucia received several apparitions from Our Lady in the convents in ***Tui ***and Pontevedra, Spain, and it is strongly believed that she also received them in her Portuguese Carmelite convent in Coimbra. But as Sister Lucia departed from this life, Our Lady’s prophesied seventh return to ***Fatima ***was never publicly announced by her. So… Only God and Our Lady know the truth. Maybe this is the reason that the inspired Vicars of Christ continue to point our attention back to Fatima. 🙂

If these unnamed people’s belief is a well based and educated one, do they have a specific date and time? When did this prophetic heavenly event take place?
It is easy to proclaim a vague and arbitrary position when it is not challenged to give a reasonable account for its belief.

This is actually one of my favorite things to talk about. Personally, I believe that we will know when Her seventh visit will occur and when it will take place. The question, should be however, are we truly ready for Our Lady to visit us again? We do need it badly, in my opinion but are we ready? More importantly, is she ready?

January 23rd, 1937 at 12:33 PM local time, according to those who saw her. Sorry to say you missed out on it.
