I just went to Confession and remembered to say the prayers but I forgot who they were intended for. I should have asked again to be sure but I was half embarrassed half tired. I just said all the prayers and intended them for as many people as I could. For example, for the Pope, for the people in the Dominican Republic and for Persecuted Christians. Does this mean that I can’t be remitted of my temporal punishment? Thank you.

So you left the confessional and when you went to pray your penance you forgot who the prayers were intended for? Do you have to go back and ask? No.

One can just pray the prayers “for the intention the confessor asked”.

“Temporal punishment” may or may not be fully remitted in any case.

One does various penances in life …and leads a life of prayer …indulgences etc which continues to efface such and make one more like Christ…
