Will Saints you pray for the assistance of attack you if you are a sinner? Is it always assumed that one will take your side from a different place in the Universe? Does speaking for a better world around you in your prayers get “twisted” into reprimanding you severely?

People used to say, “I turned away from the Catholic Church because my nun teacher hit me when I misbehaved.” So, if the people in charge of the school permitted it, are Saints prone to abusing you because they are from older generations of Catholicism and may count themselves as better than you?

All this time, I thought they would answer my cries for help…?

No.
They pray for you, God decides if what you need is good for you.
They are not mini-deities.

So if I pray for them to help and things go both seriously good and bad, I mean HEAVILY, it’s God doing all that?

You have to ask that God will be done, which, may not necessarily be what you are seeking.
If it’s good, and it’s the right time it will happen. Often we can’t see things clearly, and we ask for things that clearly are not the best for us.

I ask for assistance from those who are best suited in the faith to handle these matters. To me, it is the right thing to do, is it not?

Well God seems to have sided with the French in the Hundred Year’s War, encouraging Saint Joan of Arc to lead French soldiers in battle against the English (who were also Catholic by this point, and who likely prayed to God for victory as well). This could be seen as God punishing the English for committing atrocities during the war.

Sometimes things go wrong because we mess them up. Sometimes things go a way that we think is wrong, but ends up being for our good, in the long run. Sometimes what we want is not what is best for us. And sometimes what is best for us is not what we think we want. And sometimes God allows us to go through trials and sufferings to strengthen us in some way or another.
So, it’s not always God “doing all that”. It may very well be you doing it, and God just allowing it. Or maybe it’s not you OR God “doing it”, and He is still just allowing it.

Muchos gracias, that was very thoughtful and I’ll have to look it over a few times 🙂

I’ve been in a state of “redefinition” for a few years now and it’s all really confusing at times but I feel somewhere people can’t see, there is greatness going on inside of me.

The Saints are in heaven, with God and Eternal Love that radiates from Him…With the grace of God they intercede for us and they do listen. Will they ’ attack ’ you? No. They are in the presence of Love and Mercy that fills them with abundant love for those asking their help’ You may be getting your answer but you do not yet recognize it. When I was in school yes the sisters would crack you once in awhile with a ruler on your knuckles was that right, no, but I remember if I went home and told my parents, I was punished again. What does this have to do with the Saints? They love and care for us. and I know I always have friends in heaven and so do you. God Bless you.🦋🦋

anna, thanks for the thoughtful reply. I’m not trying to make a fuss or point fingers on those tales. It’s just that some Catholics might have been deterred based on that “table” or “ladder” like, if you go up the food chain from a shark to a spear-fisherman what can go right? Then I wonder, what can go wrong? But you gave me the insight I was looking for, which I already pretty much presumed they are on our sides. Maybe if I’m lucky someone from the past will find this and give hope and prayers back through the Saints. I know that people who struggle over multiple decades can probably give some amazing views that can help us remedy some of our problems. 🙂

Please, I would like to share something with you. 26 months ago my twin brother was killed by someone driving an 18 wheeler who was DUI. My brother was killed instantly I was told. Words will never express then pain in my heart. I was literally heart broken. Even though I had a husband, two daughters, nothing mattered to me. The day before Joseph’s funeral I took the car keys, told my husband I had to get out for awhile. As I was driving I starting thinking did my brother have time to make peace with God. Was his soul in God’s hands. I was crying uncontrollably, I stopped to get gas and as I was getting out of the car this little boy about eight ran up to my car, handed me a beautiful red rose and said’ please don’t cry anymore’ it’s ok. Now I was about 15 miles from home, never saw this child in my life, yet I knew who the rose was from. My mother had this statue of St.Therese in our home when we were kids and told us she would always watch over us. We both loved St.Therese and would greet her with a prayer every morning. She sent me a Rose to let me know my brother ,was with God,Blessed, mother:r angels and saints. 🦋🦋

The Saint is in heaven. Heaven is free of all generational and other biases, and the souls there behave with perfect love, always.
Unless you are a devil or demon, no one from Heaven is going to “attack” you.
Particularly if you’re sincerely asking for their help.

That’s a beautiful story! Reminds me of the one Fulton Sheen told about asking Mother Mary to please have a little girl give him a white rose to show Mary wasn’t mad at him and sure enough that’s exactly what happened in the next few minutes.

This is one of the most bizarre questions I’ve read here on CAF.

Just… utterly… bizarre.

The image in my mind of little St. Therese appearing and giving you the smackdown with a ruler… just bizarre. Hilarious, but bizarre.

What in the world gave you this peculiar thought?

anna, I’m glad someone comforted you, some people are still waiting for that and I think it would make a good prayer to Saint Expedite for aiding them during their losses.

spyr- We are all guilty of this or that and corrective penalties often stop people from reaching out. I made a thread a while back about people’s potential fear upon death itself and challenges in the next life we’ve heard about in folklore. I’ve seen people or reasons why people “put on the brakes.” And all the while we have people at Church saying “HIT THE GAS!” I think we need to iron some of this stuff out because someone who’s afraid they fell short of grace as a youngster might not post this situation. I kinda tried to get the ball rolling.
