Will terrestrial radio die out COMPLETELY?

Right now, the process of using and propagating light is fundamentally different from “radio”, since there are no electronic devices that operate at that frequency. Yet.

Note that the laws control light from an amplitude, broadband color etc, not content.

Suppose we could compose light in octaves, harmonics etc that we now do for acoustic waves. Interesting composition

100% agree. Yes, envision that in the currently “closed” spectrum. Imagine the progress.
 
Considering that their format sucks and I almost never listen to it or have anything to do with them, I’m not surprised. They may have 850 stations but their product is boring.
 
Once these machines discover our tasty nucleotides, we’ll be one the menu! 😱
 
Pretty sure they will prefer other substances. However, considering us “redundant” might be an issue.

We know those won’t happen, though, since we are guaranteed that Christ and His Church will be with til the end of time.

That may dictate when the end of time is, though.

I thought the radio app was too confusing. They kept pushing me to listen to what they wanted instead of what I wanted. If iHeartRadio simply opened to my favorite radio stations I would have been happy.
 
Looks like 91% of Americans listen to terrestrial radio in any given week. Doesn’t exactly look like “dying out” to me:

No. Certain technologies will be required for various reasons, including a potential emergency.

Cell phones operate in the radio frequency.

We do “compose light” when we mix paints or mix white and the three primary colors to achive the other hues.

The rules of composition have to do not with the physical constraints of electromagnetic radiation, which changes seamlessly from radio to gamma, but in our perception and use of each band of the spectrum of radiation.

(Well, if you want to be particular, of course ionizing radiation is different than the lower-energy frequencies.)

Yes, but those are not coherent frequencies. They are just absorption and transmission of a band limited distribution of frequencies. The closest we get to a coherent frequency in the light band is via Laser, which is akin to an oscillator connected directly to an antenna.

Yes, cell phones operate in a few radio “bands”, in the GHz region.

What we can see is for light is less than an octave, akin to about 6 notes on a piano.

Ionizing radiation is also electromagnetic, albeit a very high frequency. The energy contained is proportional to frequency. E = h * f.
 
There is a TON of money in radio. Not satellite, not internet, not podcasts. Just turn the dial in your car radio. I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon.

I dont think it will ever die completely. Local news, weather and traffic are best delivered over the air, as opposed to a data-stream only delivery mechanism.
 
I drive a lot for work, and I listen to country music stations on XM. I have to admit I don’t listen to AM/FM unless it’s for a football game.
