Cardinal Hoyos–President Emeritus of the Pontifical Commission “Ecclesia Dei speaking on behalf of The Holy See

"Darío Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos has repeatedly affirmed that the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) is not a case of formal schism on at least five separate occasions in public interviews, as recently as March 17 and over the past 2-1/2 years. Msgr. Camille Perl, long-time secretary for the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei (PCED), has repeatedly affirmed in personal letters that such Catholics incur no penalty and no sin for merely fulfilling one’s Sunday obligation at a church or chapel served by the SSPX…

…He continued, “I hope the open arms of Pope Benedict XVI will be understood as a kairos, an opportune moment, and pacifying the consciences of the faithful and of the lay people, a full effective and affective unity of the Fraternity with the Church and the vicar of Christ will be reached.”

Once again, His Eminence confirmed the SSPX is not in formal schism, but that there may be a danger of schism leading to heresy and vice versa within the movement without full canonical regularization, and that Pope Benedict XVI has “open arms” to welcoming the SSPX into full canonical regularization within the Church."

Yes you may my brother in Christ. For those that tell you, that you may not, they know nothing of supplied jurisdiction
Thank you Dum_Spiro_Spero! I’ve been debating for awhile, but I feel now I may especially after the excommunication liftings. I just don’t see anything wrong with worshiping according to the old rite of the Church.

They are lacking full communion with Rome. Without this, the SSPX is lacking much.
they are in communion with rome. they are not in communion with the liberals. the liberals wants them outside and not the holy father.

God Bless you. There is nothing wrong whatsoever with wanting to do that. The TLM should be made accessible to every Catholic that desires it. It shouldn’t be rationed out like fresh water on deserted island.

They are NOT in communion with Rome. Faculties have not been restored. Their Sacraments are valid, but not licit. Please do not make me have to explain what this means in a lengthy post.

But their faculties have yet to be restored, rendering every SSPX Mass as illicit. There is nothing wrong with desiring the TLM. There is a problem with attending an illicit Mass in order to do so.
It appears those who doubt their validity have the problem.
That the state of grace is not required in the minister of the sacrament is also defined by Trent: “If anyone says that a minister who is in mortal sin, though he observe all the essentials which pertain to the confecting or conferring of the sacrament, does not confect or confer the sacrament, anathema sit.” (DS 1612; cf. 1315, 1262, 793).

Tommy,

Please do enlighten us. A lengthy explanation citing statements from His Holiness or his delegates specifically saying the Society is not in Communion with the Holy See would be of interest to us all.

Please provide documented sources.

Thank you, and earnestly awaiting this explanation,

“Please accept that I reject the term “ecumenism ad intra.” The bishops, priests and faithful of the Society of St Pius X are not schismatics…The priests and faithful of the Society have not been excommunicated. They are not heretics.”—Cardinal Hoyos

LETTER OF THE PONTIFICAL COMMISSION “ECCLESIA DEI”
Under Signature of Rev. Msgr. Camille Perl, Secretary
May 28, 1996; repeated in Protocol N. 236/98 of March 6, 1998
Code:
"It is true that participation in the Mass and sacraments at the
chapels of the Society of St. Pius X does not of itself constitute
    'formal adherence to the schism.'"
September 27, 2002
Code:
    1. In the strict sense you may fulfill your Sunday obligation by
attending a Mass celebrated by a priest of the Society of Saint Pius
    X.
Code:
    2. ...If your intention is simply to participate in Mass according to
the 1962 Missal for the sake of devotion, this would not be a sin.
Code:
    3. It would seem that a modest contribution to the collection at Mass
    could be justified.

ProVobis, your post does not help you. In no way was the SSPX encouraged. The tone was more along the lines of “No it isn’t a sin, but it isn’t your best choice either” Again valid, but not licit. It is really not that hard of a concept.

the liberals want the SSPX to follow the same path of destruction that they are in right now but the SSPX has zeal for God and His house. they are not going too. the holy father knows all about that. who do you think that the holy father is talking to when he criticizes what is going in the Church?

it is the best choice for those who love God and His house and know who God is. God is not our buddy like the liberals want us to believe.

the liberals told the people that the EF had been abrogated. but just now the people came to know that it wasnt. this says something.

Point was that there are many illicit Masses other than SSPX. Our only obligation is to attend a valid Catholic rite. The rest is an “internal matter” with the SSPX or whomever and the Church. Or are you privy into their private negotiations?

If you want the TLM, there are ways without supporting the SSPX

No, i support the SSPX. they refuse to go down the path of distraction with the liberals. that is good enough for me. they love the holy father and they teach obedience to him. that is all that matters. the liberals want you to believe different.

They theach obedience to Lefebvre. If you want a traditional sect that teaches obedience to the Holy Father, you want the FSSP

Funny, I’ve never heard the gospel according to Marcel preached. I’ve only heard sermons on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I’ve heard plenty of sermons on the Saints, the Popes, the Doctors of the Church. I’ve heard exhortations on the importance of two thousand years of teachings and Tradition. We chant the Tu Es Petrus for His Holiness after Benediction.

Not once have I heard fidelity to Marcel Lefebvre taught.

Where do you come up with these things Tommy?
