Will the possessed understand any languages?

For example, if the possessed person is a filipino, speaks Tagalog and born in the Philippines, will it react to a Chinese Exorcist?

Here’s a link where the exorcist explains it would be better for the possessed person to understand what was being said during exorcism.

The person should react to prayer and performing of the ritual, even if the person doesn’t understand the language. That is actually considered an indicator and part of the criteria of diagnosis in the old ritual.

Now, the rite itself is considered very evangelical and the person is bound to gain from understanding what is being said.

P.S. The picture you posted, if I’m not mistaken, is from the ‘The exorcism of Emily Rose’ and I personally consider that picture to be in very poor graphic taste. What is more, that movie is said to vaguely draw from the very sad case of Anneliese Michel who has been considered by some theologians to be a “victim soul” and thus deserves considerate and thoughtful mention on our part. Some have expressed a significant and enrichening parallel/analogy with blessed Alexandrina of Balazar, so enhancing the role of suffering in the lives of saints by broadening perspective on extraordinary manifestations in the spiritual life.

That’s great to know language does not pose as a barrier when spiritual warfare is engaged. I planned to become an exorcist.
 
OP, now that you’ve received a good answer to your question, can you please remove that picture?

We don’t need Hollywood depictions of exorcisms pictured on this forum, and the picture is not necessary to your question.

Demons come from a time before the nations split and men had separate tongues. They are spirits of the dead giants who once ruled the Earth (not fallen angels themselves…who are a whole other mess). Not a traditional text, but I like the Dead Sea Scrolls phrase: the “spirits of the bastards” (from Gen 6). And they also come from a time before Israel or when God revealed himself in a specific way to Moses. Notice the demon “Legion” first ran up to Jesus himself, begged for mercy when Jesus entered a Gentile zone. “Catching sight of Jesus from a distance, he ran up and prostrated himself before him, crying out in a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?” -Mk 5:6.

Notice also he used a very ancient Melchizedek era title for God. They understand authority and who ultimately has it, in any land. It’s the only language they speak.

Not according to the Catholic Faith they aren’t.

What you just said contradicts orthodox Catholic demonology.

(I’m not saying you can’t hold that opinion, just you should point out that’s your personal opinion and it’s not what the Church teaches).

I heard of someone who sold her soul to the devil in order to understand every language. She was possessed by a mute spirit and was unable to speak.
 
@poche There is a language that everybody can understand which does not require selling of souls to get it. It’s call Great Love. 💖💖💖
