It is said the greatest punishment of the reprobate will be being separated from God. Jesus tells us that they will mourn and gnash their teeth when they see the glory of of the Kingdom of God but that they themselves are barred entry. Does this imply that they will temporarily experience the fullness of the Beatific Vision, just as they were created to do, prior to being cast out into darkness? And that, perhaps, after experiencing this, the absence of it will be torture? Or is it impossible for anybody to experience the Beatific Vision unless their soul is purified of all sin, of which the reprobate are not and will not ever be?

Is there is any dogmatic teaching on this one way or another, or does it remain speculative?

I believe the Beatific Vision is only for those who are with God.
It is said that the Beatific Vision was withheld from the angels until they chose whether they would be for or against God. After which, those who went with God were given the Beatific Vision.
