But, before that happens, the law can be changed by the legislature but it will have to be enough of a majority to override Obama’s inevitable veto. In this, we should all write to our congressman and senators and make our wishes known.
An Obama veto would destroy him. The Dems will do everything in their power to prevent it getting that far. If a bill gets through the Senate and to his desk I bet he would sign it. If not bring on the election baby, with his signature next to a no on religious liberty 😃

The vote is certainly the remedy. Yet I fear that a good number of Catholics will remain in the tank for Obama even as he sets out to destroy the church. /QUOTE]

As I said in my earlier response, I work in a Catholic hospital, and many of my Catholic co-workers have grumbled quite a bit about birth control not being covered under the insurance. I think many of those types of people will not recognize what this mandate will mean to the Catholic Church - they only see $$ for their own pockets. 🤷
I pray that their eyes will be opened to the fact that, as said many times already, this is nothing less than an overt attack on the Catholic Church, the opening salvo if you will.

On the up side, do you think there will be any American Catholics left out there after this is all said and done, that do not know the Church’s teaching on contraception 😃

I think the calculus on the part of Obama is that heis solidifying his base, which is secular and liberal and that he would welcome the oppportunity to veto a bill that favored religious liberty over what he will describe as freedom of women to manage their own lives. He is banking that there are more people that favor free birth control than those that are worried about religious liberty. We’ll soon see if he is wrong about this.

There will be Catholic Hospitals and universities.
They changed the rules on Catholic universities many years ago since many of them admit non-Catholics. I don’t know if they will apply those same rules to Catholic hospitals.

Greetings to those posting and or reading this thread,

In risking of derailing the thread, I am not so sure if I am comfortable with the the vote will take care of the issue. I thought, and I could be mistaken, isn’t the electoral college votes that dictate who is preseident, based on what the people vote. Theoretically could not those who voted on the electoral college go against the people on this?

You all are in my prayers and I pray constantly that this act will be overturned.

God Bless.

Greetings Leegal,

Do those votes represent a majority of the votes in the electoral college? If so, then the people really don’t have a say. And who keeps the electoral college accountable?

God Bless.

They will know that the church is against contraception. But I havent’ seen many discussion of why that is. – and most American’s won’t respond positively without understanding the reasons. The mass media in this country is caught up in the culture of 'free" sex. This is no secret to anyone who watches any TV show. You won’t see them describing marriage as a partnership between a man, a woman and God to create life and if you can’t understand that , it is highly unlikely that you will understand that contraception separates sex from its true purpose…

You drove the nail right through the board.

Archdiocese of Denver’s call to arms----Bishop’s Column from the January 25, 2012 issue of the Denver Catholic Register. After the Vigil Mass and today’s Masses, a copy was handed out to everyone at my parish.

Although, I miss Arbp Chaput, IMHO, we are in good hands with Bishop Conley, our Apostolic Administrator.
