There are so many good books that I would like to read, but I find that it is impossible to read them all in my lifetime. Will it be possible to read good books in heaven? I suspect that there will be a library in hell, but it would contain books on radical feminism or on animals that engage in homosexual relations or maybe even a book by Stormy Daniels or her lawyer and I would not be too interested in wasting time reading anything like that.

In one of Kreeft’s books on heaven, I seem to recall him making the comment that in heaven we might look back on the great works of art and literature in a similar way that a parent might look fondly back at the crude drawings of their children.

I believe his point was that the heavenly majesty will somewhat trump even the greatest of human achievements. Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean we might not look with some fondness upon them.

As for books in heaven, I don’t know if we can really answer that with certainty. It seems to me that with our ultimate destiny in heaven being perfection and fulfillment of our existence on earth, I see no reason why there couldn’t be books in heaven. But if there are no books, I also don’t think we’d be disappointed.

I suspect that there will be a library in hell,
It would contain only one book. Sing Along With Barney
And it would be constantly read by Fran Drescher.

With an appendix titled “ It’s a small world after all “

Even better, we may very well meet our favourite authors in heaven.
