I was just wondering what Catholics believe it will be like living in Gods friendship in the next life. What will we do?

We won’t be feeding the poor anymore.
We won’t be spreading the good news.

Who will we have to help or sacrifice ourselves for?

Surely we won’t subject ourselves to gluttony will we?
Surely we won’t need to worship God all the time, as we’ll be with Him at His side.

…so what is our purpose in heaven? Will we create as in His likeness?

Other than we will be alive and embodied, and will somehow keep our minds, we really don’t know.

Me, I’d be cool just being embraced by our LORD and looking into His eyes/mind for a good chunk of forever :):)🙂

ICXC NIKA!

Since the purpose of good works and sacrifice is to get to heaven then they wouldn’t be required once we’re there. I’ll go along with GEddie’s idea of eternity, sounds lovely to me…as long as I get to play a harp :harp:

Well, I do think that there will be work done in Heaven, hinted to us in Revelation:
And another angel came, and stood before the altar, having a golden censer;
and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer of the prayers
of all saints upon the golden altar, which is before the throne of God. And
the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before
God from the hand of the angel.

I believe that the Saints in Heaven pray, and pray hard too, all the more harder for those
still on Earth who turn to them for intercession. That will be our task in Heaven, I think,
to pray and make that sort of offering to God.

Whatever God is doing, since we will be united with him, that is what we will be doing. “God is love.” We will even be given a special power to withstand it.

Yes and no - - - 😃

Having reached heaven, we will exist in a perfected state of Agape in the presence of our God. Our will and His will be one and the same. All that we do will be a joy to us. Will there be things to do? Sure. Will they be “work/sacrifice”? I suppose that depends on how you define work and sacrifice.
Is it “work” to do the will of the Father?
Is it “sacrifice” to do that which pleases Him who we love above all else?

Just some thoughts…

Peace
James
