This problem is exacerbated by Orthodoxy’s rejection of the supremacy of the successor of Peter as head of the universal Church and its denial of papal infallibility.

.
I believe the problems of unity are profound, Jesus exercised supremacy by washing the feet of his disciples including Judas and Peter. Maybe a step towards unity would be for the various leaders of denominations, to wash each others feet annually on Maundy Thursday.

When Jesus spent his time on Earth, he would have lived by the greatest commandments, he could do nothing greater. But how did Jesus love all his neighbours as he loved himself? Judas who betrayed him; and the soldiers who nailed him to the cross?

We know Jesus prayed on the cross forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.

Unity might only start when we acknowledge our own disunity and seek repentance, and show a willingness to forgive others, as we ourselves are forgiven.
