Okay, let’s make this simple, I was being slightly inflamatory because you avoided answering my question.
I did not step into the thread and tell you you’re blathering the same things over and over again. I stepepd in and asked you a question. When you reiterated the same things you’ve already said to Mirdath, then I accused you of saying the same thing over and over again. When I asked you again you simply dissected what I said to make me sound like a bad guy. And then again.
My question to you is thus: What does Abolutely Relative mean?
I don’t understand that concept, and I’ve been grappling with it all day to see if I can understand it. My childish remarks aside, I really do want that answer.
The adversary, being
absolutely relative, means he has no frame of reference to work from. All his actions since his fall from grace, even if he were to hypothetically intend something good, are ultimately destructive and innately lead toward chaos. It takes God’s grace to re-order this demonic chaos and lead people back toward salvation again.
God, being
relatively absolute, the absolute standard by which all things are measured, stands in the unique position to guage the good and evil throughout the entire scope of all his creation. So, in light of the devil’s being absolutely relative, God stands in a position of being relatively absolute. In other words, there is nothing which escapes God’s scrutiny-- and all things are judged by him with perfect clarity and holy fairness.
In simple form, if something is absolutely relative, then they have no real standard by which they can guage their own existence against. The devil, being separated from God, has absolutely no recourse to salvation via God’s grace. The devil’s perspective is working from a position of total chaos, something which will inevitably lead him toward the etenral destruction of the abyss (a realm that is absolutely relative).
If something is relatively absolute, then this indicates that there are degrees by which one can measure themselves against the standards they live by. For example, a ruler may have 12 inches on it. If you measure something with the ruler, you can demonstrate that something may be 7 inches for example. Because the object being measured does not exactly correspond to the full length of the ruler does not reduce the effectiveness of the ruler being used.
Proverbs 13:24:
He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.
Some seem to think that this particular passage indicates that we should beat our children with an iron rod in order to discipline. While there are passages in the Scriptures which really do indicate that fools will be beaten with iron rods, I don’t think this passage in Proverbs 13:24 indicates this.
The more reasonable approach is to simply note that raising a child without a ‘standard of measure’ leads them to being undisciplined-- spoiling a child and letting them do
anything they want to do does not prove that you love them. Providing them with a stable and loving standard to live by, consistently teaching them right from wrong and how to love their neighbor is the true evidence that they love their children.
The same is true with God, the very being by which we are all measured, measuring our souls with the 10 commandments so to speak much like we would measure an object with a ruler.
Hebrews 12:5-8:
And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:
My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons.
For what son is not disciplined by his father?
If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.
However, just because we do not we do not measure up to the full measure of his own own holiness, this does not necessarilly imply that we are not holy. God, being relatively absolute, stands in the perfect position to measure the extent to which our souls live in accodance with his holiness by his Spirit. I think is a realm much like this too.
Anyway, I do apologize for the harsh words before. I hope this clarifies a few things.
