I am trying to understand what the will is. Aquinas and Augustine have written about it. With Augustine he says ‘will’ can be ‘hard’ IDK if that’s correct of not. And if things are perverse then it leads to lust. He also said that some say when you do God’s will it is said that there is no free will. I don’t believe that IMO. Our free will should be to want to do what’s right and we don’t IMO because we are so blinded. Our will should be God’s I would think. That would be better for us.

The will is roughly our capacity to act and to want. It is distinct from the mind, but inextricably tied to it because of the need to know before acting or wanting.

ISTM that the perfect “free will” is to a great extent a mirage. The will is conditioned at least as much as our mind by the conditions of our life.

It’s not part of the mind though? So is lust a creation of will that then works on the mind?
I’d say that lust arises in the mind, subsequent to hormonal action in the body, and is acted on (or not) by the will.

I’d say that the will resides in our soul somewhere between the mind and the natural body. Either can trigger it, and both are needed to carry out an action.
